I don't think his defending is as bad as many say

If he is expected to run the entire right hand side both offensively and defensively he's been exposed

He's not perfect, at all, but also he is entirely functional in a back 4 in a team set up properly

See RDZs time so far
I can't count the number of times this year where Porro has gotten dusted by the opposition's LW. He's a terrible 1v1 defender and a liability on that side.

Firstly, this is a mealy mouthed response from the CEO. Completely dodging the question.

But at the end, this would have to be the first admittance from anyone in the ENIC bubble that our wage structure hasn't been fit for purpose.

The first step is always acknowledgement and acceptance, and hopefully this relegation scare has humbled the executive and ownership enough to enact change. Meaningful change.

He completely dodged the question lol.

And we won the sqaure root of fuck all

Except football matches most weeks.

I’m with carpediem991 carpediem991 and TeamSpirit™ TeamSpirit™ on this one. “Winners” are a myth. Our team last two years had league and WC winners in it, but we were atrocious, because those “winners” weren’t great footballers.

2nd/3rd in the PL during Poch, was not a trophy, but was the best actual achievement of this club in several decades, and it was down to having a core of quality players and some quality coaching.

Depends on DeZerbi.....I think he is aiming higher than a lower mid table rebuild and for that he will want to rely on experienced players

It might be a year too early for the 4 you mention. Looks like Vuskovic is staying in Hamburg, Moore likely to return to Rangers, I wouldn't mind Lankshear going to a club like Ipswich to see if McKenna can develop him in the way he did Delap. Bergvall needs a loan too
That is madness sending those players out on loan. We have players allready injured or doubtful, Maddison, kudus, kula & Odebert. We have no europe and therefore keeping a fully fit squad playing will be difficult but we cannot assume we will not continue to get injuries. It is easier to keep the likes of Moore, Vuskovic, Bergvale & Lankshear happy with few starting appearances than more experienced players.

We cannot leave ourselves short again in the event the injury crisis continues.

Everybody seemed perfectly able to understand that when we were a big team buying players from smaller clubs, it wasn't realistic for them to hang onto them. Maddison, Kudus, and Richarlison all joined us from lower PL teams who would much rather have kept them if possible.

Now that we have made decisions resulting in us becoming one of the weakest sides in the league, people act as though they don't understand why we might not be able to keep the likes of Porro. We couldn't keep the likes of Sheringham, Carrick, Keane and Berbatov from joining bigger PL sides, despite our late 90s/2000s teams performing much more strongly than our current squad.

You don't get to just choose to act like a big club again. You have to earn it on the pitch - and yes, it's much harder to reach that status than it would've been to maintain it. Choices have consequences.

for me, it's less about worrying about keeping anyone and seeing that it's sensible for us to accept offers for players that haven't exactly moved us on. Very dependable, good player, but not really critical to our future.

I was the same about Kyle Walker. I don't see us having done any better by keeping him. What he became was due to playing under Guardiola, and he wouldn't have (imo) improved the way he did
