Transfers Summer 2026 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Ehh no!?

I just don't agree that it's such a big problem that signing wingers and strikers should be first on the priority list!?

Porro, Romero, Udogie, are all horrible defensively. I just think we should start there first.

And we also need som experienced ball-playing midfielders first.
Romero was the defensive rock of Argentina when they won the WC. Messi said he's best CB in the world and wanted Barca to buy him while still at Barca.
Frank and, particularly, Angelos were terrible at setting up the defense. And both Porro and Udogie have played under 6 head-coaches (Conte, Mason, Angelos, Fran, Tudor, De Zerbi) since they arrived at Spurs.
My problem with Udogie is that he's so injury prone that he's never managed to reach total match fitness before being injured again.
However, I am not saying that Porro and Udogie don't have defenseive flaws ...

I agree with your sentiment, but no way De Zerbi accepts players he doesn't want.

My thinking here is, we've essentially said to RDZ, we have two free signings ready to go which we've been working on for 6 months and they won't affect our transfer budget, so won't affect any other potential incomings, do you still want them? and RDZ has said yes lets bring them in.

I don't see any reason why he wouldn't want Robertson and Senesi in the squad for next season, especially as they are costing nothing in terms of a transfer fee. So I wouldn't read too much into it.
The problem Dz or any incumbent has is by using the 'bringing better players in' yardstick with regards to our current playing squad, the bar doesn't have to be all that high.

Much rather he go full tilt and apply the 'I want' method and make the Board squirm.

He would need alot of energy around him but in the right midfield he would be a great signing.
Yeah he would but I have the same concerns that I have with Donley, in that his vision and touch are superb but the mobility and fitness are suspect.

Fantastic players and talented without a doubt but is their natural physique and fitness going to be a stumbling block to a proper top level career?
Both young enough to grow and improve though but Wharton would, or could, turn out to be a very expensive gamble with the way the modern game is going.

It just highlights how hard it is to spot and be sure on young talent because they're still growing into themselves and anything can happen.

We are bringing on 5 subs most matches and it is usually attacking players that come on. We cannot assume the injury crisis is over and must assume there will be times when a striker is injured. This is when we need a young player to step up and get mins towards the end of games. We have been out of the cups for some weeks and playing 1 match a week yet not had a striker on the bench. The club must come before development of players and we cannot leave ourselves short again.

Yeah, really don't understand the mindset of some people. Almost as if they have forgotten how many injuries we have suffered over the past two seasons.

He was superb last night, in the first half especially but did fade a disappear for a while in the second.
Fantastic vision and ability but I do have some concerns about his fitness and mobility, and the fact that he doesn't seem to be a "natural athlete".

It sounds almost harsh but I'm almost thinking that there's a touch of the Huddlestone about him.
He did fade slightly but the team were out on their feet.

I think Wharton iis similar to Odegaard Ibut without the finishing abolity - possibly.

To get the best out of him he would need pretty much the same kind of ballast that Rice et al provide, because he doesn't cover the ground as ably as someone like an Anderson.

And what we don't know is the type of player De Zerbi is seeking, or the degree and extent of input he will have in any such decision.

Would be a good signing and looks like the right level of quality that we need, but yesterday was against inferior opposition.

And I think thats what nags me about him

To buy him dictates the rest of the team

And Im always a little hesitant to build around players like that, this is Spurs, we'd build a side to suit Wharton and then he'll do a double ACL and disappear for 2 years, while we have a team that doesnt function without him....

Im also unsure, looking to RDZs other sides, if Wharton "fits" quite as well as people hope.

In some ways I can see it, taking the ball off the defence, line breaking pass...

In others I just cant, not as athletic, can he resist pressure? can he play those wall passes with someone on his back? Can he get back and defend when an attack breaks down?

Could see him absolutely bossing Serie A

Think he was injured last night tbh. Wasn’t even suppose to start at 4pm yesterday when they were doing the build up!
Yeah, I did think about that.
Had an ankle issue that could well have hampered his mobility but I've heard similar criticism from palace fans before (I admit to not watching much football apart from Spurs, so I'm not proclaiming any real knowledge here, just saying what I saw).

I have heard that we are in for Baleba from a mate . Not sure how the feck he would know though. I am assuming that he means Justin Beiber is doing a concert at our stadium .

If true I would not be against it , Baleba not Beiber , Beiber can fuck off

In school, a mate once passed me a note saying we were in for Miguel Angel Nadal.

People are weird and make stuff up. Hopefully he's not on twitter or shaking a tin on SC

I just know we must get our next set of signings right, in particular the more expensive purchases.

Tbf he is not a bullshitter type and I’ve known him 40 years . First time he has ever said anything like this . So I posted it on the off chance he has stumbled on a nugget, whilst making sure I covered my ass that I wasn’t accused of being the SC Hercules.

I just don’t see how he would know , hence my scepticism

Seeing very mixed reports on Baleba, and tbh he's not a player Im familiar with by anything but reputation

Have seen:
- 2 seasons ago incredible

- Last season, didnt get the Man U move, form dropped off a cliff

- Profiles a lot like the midfielders we already have

- big money, obviously

So Id be keen to understand if he is worth the fuss or not

I know what you mean.

For some reason I have a really bad feeling that someone will drop 100 million on him and he'll be a bit of a flop.

I can just imagine us finally breaking the bank to sign someone like him as our version of a Rice and it not working out at all.
