Had me scratching my head too.
In the past RDZ has used systems with 3 at the back at times. Would like to have a manager again who is able to mix it up a bit if needed. Having Van de Ven/ Danso/ Senesi / Vuskovic available could work for a possible back three. It would also suit Porro as a wing back. It could also help in scenarios when we don't have enough winger options around.
Maybe we will something similiar like this at times:
[LINEUP]Kinsky
Senesi Vuskovic VdV
Porro Gallagher Bentancur Robertson
Maddison Xavi
X[/LINEUP]
(Upgrades on some midfield players granted)
It's down to using the back line depth to help up front. But we don't know what we don't know. How much does De Zerbi think of Romero. As much as his comments might indicate? Do we really know that van de vyn wants to stay? Something tells me vdv's head could get turned by bigger clubs. And is he as good as we think he is, or durable enough to that sustain his pace? If you could get a king's ransom out of selling him would you take it? What we do know is the ball has to get into the opponent's net a lot more frequently next season. If that means thinning out the backline to help finance it, so be it.To be fair, after reading it again, it wasn't really a rant, so apologies for labelling it that.
I don't share your concerns though tbh. Danso has proven to be an able RCB, whilst Vuskovic has excelled in Germany, much as VDV did before we bought him. Senesi provides options without a drop in quality, so it's astute business from my perspective. He may well play on the right, but if VDV is injured, moved to LB, or just rested, we have an option for his position who has shown he's more than capable for the role.
We've been crying out for ages for players that aren't just backup, but will challenge for the starting role. If nothing else, it should keep VDV on his toes knowing that there's someone vying for his position.
VDV, Senesi, Danso and Vuskovic as our main 4 CB's, with Phillips and Dorrington as understudies is a very strong department in my view. That's on the assumption that Romero is leaving, which is by no means a given. We even have gentle Ben as a backup if required. With the addition of Robertson, that then means we have both Porro (if he stays) and Spence for RB, with Udogie and Robertson as LB. It's a strong defensive unit and the work is essentially done before the window has opened. The only caveat to that is the goalkeeping position.
That leaves us to concentrate on upgrading the frontline. Muani should be gone, Richarlison needs improving on and RW desperately needs sorting.
My personal priority would be Osimhen. I know he's on silly wages in Turkey, but we've shown with Simons and Gallagher that we're prepared to up the ante on wages, so give him a nice signing on fee then pay him a wage more in line with the top earners in the squad. We can make it work that way if the will is there. Getting a striker like him would REALLY get the fans onside, and would bump our goals for column significantly. That, for me, would be a solid investment.
Since when are we a top team?Yuck
No more 3 at the back, top teams don't use that anymore. Especially in England

Get rid of all 3On our transitional way back to the top 6 I still think Palhinha has a role to play for a year or two. The squad needs to learn to fight and how to force wins. Joao sets a very good example and can lead with experience. As mentioned before, get rid of Bissouma and Sarr before replacing Joao.
Palhinha will stay, sorry haters.
RDZ loves him and Palhinha wants it. A deal will be made.
I'd rather have Palhinha in the squad than Sarr, Bissouma, Gray or Bergvall right now.
He will be a driving force behind the start of a new professional culture at Spurs. RDZ is not letting him go to be replaced with another timid kid.
That was in the 2024/2025 season when Zabaryni played 36 games, Huisen played 32 games and Sensini only played 17 games. Sensini missed 21 games that season through injury so to say Huisen was preferred to him is incorrect. When Bournemouth bought Dean Huijsen he was the prefered partner to Illia Zabarnyi
Hope he will rise to the occasionAnyone informed Napoli that Vergara is now a Tottenham player?![]()
Didn't Senesi play most games for Bournemouth last season, a high press team that finished 6th (their highest ever league position)?
Why are people making out like he would even dream of coming to the 17th placed team in the league to just sit on the bench like Dragusin did?
As others have said, I think he's coming to compete with VDV and based on what I've seen over the past couple of seasons I think it's a competition he might win.
