Transfers Summer 2026 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

In the past RDZ has used systems with 3 at the back at times. Would like to have a manager again who is able to mix it up a bit if needed. Having Van de Ven/ Danso/ Senesi / Vuskovic available could work for a possible back three. It would also suit Porro as a wing back. It could also help in scenarios when we don't have enough winger options around.

Maybe we will something similiar like this at times:

[LINEUP]Kinsky
Senesi Vuskovic VdV
Porro Gallagher Bentancur Robertson
Maddison Xavi
X[/LINEUP]

(Upgrades on some midfield players granted)
Senesi is left footed, do you want or swap his position with Vusovic.

Spurs fans totally overrate VDV. He’s brilliant when playing in a suicidal high line when it comes to a foot race towards his own goal. Not the same player with his back to goal and certainly not as good as Senesi on the ball.
Not really sure that he can cross a ball but I’d like to see him at LB as he can hardly be worse going forward than Udogie.

He had an injury for most the early part of the season. There’s no doubt he’s a far more physical and mobile target when healthy though.
He's 29 in a month, and he might be on the wrong side of it. He already failed a medical.

I don't think De Zerbi prefers targetman strikers. He preferred Solanke over Richarlison who might not be a traditional targetman but is still more direct than Solanke. So I don't think he'd get much game time.

Although if we sell Richarlison we need to replace him and get a striker who can complement Solanke's game by being more direct.

Why does a defender need to play with his back to goal?

MGW just requires us to pay up. All the sensationalist stuff is just that.

It's business. We need to stump up the cash, simple as that.

Nah, I actually think Marinakis would never sell him to us now. He's too proud and stubborn. Like he said, "We always win". Selling him now would make him look weak.

We triggered a release clause and he still refused to sell.

This one is dead in the water IMO.

It really is just business, don't overthink it.

When you offer way below someone's valuation of course you'll get these overreaction.

If they want 80 million to sell, and we offer it they'll take it.

Its a high ceiling vs high floor comparison. Romero on his day is twice the player Senesi will ever be. Romero on a bad day is twice as bad as Senesi on a bad day.

Romero is good enough to play in a title winning team (we saw his performance levels in our Europa league run). Senesi is not good enough to play for a title winning team. However, Romero is rash and unreliable so has the potential to be part of a team that gets relegated. Senesi is too good and consistent to ever be part of a team that gets relegated.

After finishing 17th two seasons in a row and nearly going down, I think we can all agree that we'd prefer the consistent and reliable Senesi. Someone who should be available to play nearly all 38 league games, avoid getting sent off and just be a reliable presence at the back.

But lets not pretend he's a better player than Romero, he's not.
I agree with your last sentence & understand Romero's faults. Some posts however were claiming Senesi's transfer as some sort of masterstroke & Romero going a done deal. If Romero did not w3ant to stay here why did he travel all the way from South America to watch our final match.
