This is so boring because we didnt just pull this name ouf of our ass. We discussed Dusan Vlahovic over a period of about a year, on this forum Long before the great Waldo saw a YouTube video of a player who no longer exsists if he ever did.

I watched him play four times in person at the
Stadio Artemio Franchi between 2020 and 22 at his best and guess what I rushed here to rave about him. From that moment on I watch him every singel game I could. So probably twenty five times as I have a house in Milan and my wife has one in Venice. I also watched his non performances against England. I also went to see him against Inter at the San Siro and then the penny dropped he is SLOW ponderous, carrying too much bulk and not actually a Nine. Since then he has become less and less effective.

If you are of Serbian heritage Id forgive your utterly stupid myiopia, we've had this with Romero and Argentines with Ange and Australians ...with the English and Harry Kane. Willfully blind to their short comings but to still be banging the drum for a player as manifestly athletically limited as Dusan Vlahovic in 2026, deary me. He will not scale up to the EPL RDZ wants a high pressing forward line and you are talking up Vlahovic it's not going to happen. Don't at me on this Wally it's boring or you'll be going on ignore.

The reason that Vuskovic went on loan this season gone is because he wanted to play regularly and learn the game, so what makes you think he'd be happy with a back-up role this season, with us having even less games?
What good would sitting on the bench do to progress his undoubted potential?

Other clubs can sniff all they want but he has a contract until 2030 and if he goes on loan again, it'll no doubt come with a pay rise and extension.
So, for me at least, there's no point rushing and potentially stalling his development when he could be somewhere playing every game.

The hardest part about progressing from youth football to senior football is that most 19 year olds are not physically strong enough but that is not the case with Vuskovic who is fully developed. Bergvale & Gray are developing well and are not shit. However Vuskovic is a class above them. He has excelled in Germany and after the season he has had there is already an International player. I cannot see how a loan to Spain or Italy will help and anywhere else is a downwood move. Some have suggested one of the promoted teams in the PL but why would they play him rather than the CB that got them promoted.

You say he has a contract to 2030, 4 years. If we let this year go and in the knowledge if he gets to the last year we would be forced to sell , that just leaves 2 years. You say he will sign an extension but why with big clubs interested. We need to get him indoctrinated into the Spurs club so he wants to stay. That will never happen on loan all that will do is show him what it is like in other leagues.

This is true of the bonafide superstar who knows they walk into anyone's starting 11.
Not so true of players below that level who may value regular football and are wary of not playing.

Interestingly, Goldstein asked Bent the other day "would you rather £100k a week to play for Spurs or £5k a week to sit on the bench for Arse"

I like getting Van Hecke and Senesi in because it is a clear sign we have a manager who is trying to build a team to fit his style.

The main reason the squad is an abhorrent mess is because we’ve spent 5 years ping ponging back and forth on what our style of play is, committing to RDZ’s style is our biggest opportunity for improvement this year.

What’s strange about this whole saga is that all the “noise” that’s attributed to his camp seems to suggest that the player himself sees a loan as the best thing for his development - whether that’s to play with his brother or not it’s not clear.

There’s a lot of hype around “big” clubs “monitoring him”, but from what I’ve seen the statements from him / his camp all seems pretty sensible and that no decision will be taken till after the WC.

Spurs paid a lot of money for someone his age…?£12m - they don’t do that unless they are invested big time in his potential.

I think if he goes on loan again they’ll tie him to a new contract first, but if he is reticent to do that, the club will cash in - that will cost big money though.

Win-win for the club I guess.

Personally I think a loan to a club in Spain / Italy / Prem would be best, and then next summer we sell Danso and he slots straight in.
 
One thing to those moaning about how much we may spend on certain players...why the FUCK do you care. We've got tons of dosh. We aren't going to 'do a Leeds'. We've been frugal enough for ages - now is the time to spend spend spend.

Tbf to Shotgunofmichalebrow Shotgunofmichalebrow he’s not liked Vlahovic for a very long time so I assume he has watched him.

From my own perspective I’ve only seen him for Serbia and like 2 games. And all I can say is it takes a lot to look more limited than Mitrovic but he managed it.

Funny thing on this.

When we signed Tel, Ange was asking the board for Delap as a striker option with Solanke because Richy was broken.

At the time everyone was sure that the Chavs got the better player. Now you’d probably say on balance that Tel is shading it but both have been underwhelming and might need to move and play more.

If I was betting I’d say long term Tel will have the better career wherever they both end up

I don’t really rate Tel but I’d agree. Delap was good for Ipswich but a bit of a battering ram for a very limited side might be his ceiling. His technique is too clunky to do it for a top side.

He’s been an absolute fucking mess at Chelsea, granted they’re a mess and I think he’s better than he’s shown, but he can barely control a football.
