We need deals for players like Tapsoba and VDV. Both are big and quick dominate type players. Doesn’t have to be them but the modern game of high press only works well if you have CB’s who can play a high line and that means speed and power.

Romero is class but if you are playing him you need someone big in behind. If we don’t our midfield will drop deeper to protect our venerable backline and our attack won’t function to potential. Biggest fix for the Arse attack and defence was Saliba not Jesus.

We can sign no one else but two good modern CB’s and I would be confident of a good season

LOL....... OK, if you insist; avoid reason cos it's not what you want to hear.

Didn’t help Poch get the final pieces his squad needed to win

No it didn't. Nothin in my post suggests that I wasn't claiming otherwise.

I've said numerous times, but as bitter-sweet as it is; part of of Poch's legacy and the CL income he helped generate is wrapped up in that stadium.......

He stated quite clearly in his own words what his remit was: "Get us into the stadium with CL".... To his credit he achieved that in spades.

They always said the stadium wouldn’t impact the transfer/wage budget.

Anyway, we’ve been through these type of arguments before. We don’t get anywhere.

Surely you are just as Fucking bored of them as I am?

And yes, it was me that responded to you this time. My mistake.

Won’t really help either of us to argue about why we don’t win. Whether we agree on why or not, ENIC still don’t win.

Well it didn't. There was no major drop off in spending; just less player sale income compared to the days of Modric, Bale & Berba that preceded it.... We spent what was allocated ("budgetted").... As illustrated to you to begin with; even in 18/19 there was money to be spent (but in that instance Poch got tunnel vision over De Jong) that was left on the table.

Besides; that club statement doesn't mean "If we end up in an unforcasted title challenge we'll throw a couple of hundred million into the pot".....

At least not in any traditional sense of the English language.

I appreciate this. 👍

On Friday, we covered a report from the Catalan media which made it clear Barcelona are ready to compromise in negotiations for Clement Lenglet.

Having originally wanted more than €12m, the Blaugrana have been forced to collapse their claims, largely due to Tottenham being the only club in the race, or crawl, for his signature.

The Frenchman spent last season on loan at Spurs, yet the Premier League club had no intention of using the buying option they had.

Friday’s claims made it clear Barcelona needed to take what they could get, because the biggest issue was getting his wages off their accounts.
Friday’s edition of Sport states it’s only ‘logical’ that Barca accept a €5m offer from Tottenham, largely because of the issues stated above.

Lenglet isn’t the only player they’re looking to get rid of, and therefore pushing his deal over the edge is a good step in a longer process.

A €5m fee does seem like a bargain for Spurs, but it wouldn’t be a great surprise if it ends up even less.
