Basing it pretty simply on the reality that we haven't finished in a position where you would win the bet in 15 years. It's very unlikely you're going to win this bet. You should have made a better bet, you've negotiated basically even odds even though NotThatTedHughes NotThatTedHughes has a massive probability advantage.
If you are so sure put your forum place up for grabs as well.
Typical yank, all talk, no follow through.

Depends on your opinion though. DFS presumably believes all the bookies have got it wrong, and we have become so poor that we are likely to finish bottom half next season. Whilst I disagree, I actually respect that he is willing to bet on it at even odds.

Great thread this

You’ll lose the bet here, mate. We won’t finish below 10th.

Now if you’d negotiated 8th or lower, I’d make you favourite.
When I made the bet it was on the assumption that Kane leaves, also our form back end of last season was bottom 6.
We imploded, Conte questioned all of the players and they then proved him right with the very next performance with that 0-5 against the barcodes.
We've added a couple of attacking players and a keeper. We haven't fixed the issues.
I think the bet hinges entirely on the signing of a couple of quality CB's and the outcome of the Kane saga.

Look yes , villa had a good second half of the season when the new manager came in.
But they are snapping up some good players, as you know time stands still for nobody football included.
We are notoriously slow in getting deals done, villa have got very ambitious owners, who are desperate to get them back among it again.
I have a friend who, gets in with some of the top people at villa, and they do mean business.
You can't honestly say the same about our people, unless it's to do with building flats or a golf course.
We are not 'notoriously slow at getting deals done', we do some deals quickly (Maddison? Vicario?), and others more slowly, just like any other club.

Even if we were slow, that wouldn't matter as long as we get the right players, which is where we have failed in recent years. (And I do mean the right players, not just the most expensive - N'Dombele, Lo Celso, Sanchez etc).

It is insane to say that Villa are ahead of us based on a single season and some new players who may or may not be successes. And it's insane to say Villa are outspending us when by any metric so far, they are not and have not. They may do so this summer - every summer had a couple of clubs going a bit crazy, I won't be losing any sleep over it. Let's see how they do this season before we all start giving them the sort of praise than some of our fanbase would never lavish on us for similar achievements...

He leaves the forum for good when we finish 10th or lower. I leave for good if we finish higher.

I even made that bet on the assumption Kane would be leaving, But even I didn't think Levy would neglect signing CB's again with less than a month to go until the season starts.....it's laughable neglect at this point
I know its personal opinion and yes I would have liked all our ins and outs done so they can get to know each other during pre season but as long as they are done by the end of the transfer window (and preferably by the start of the season) then I can live with that.

Neglect to me would be no new starting CB's during this window.

On the flip side mate, we'd have the usual gang telling us what a diamond we'd found and hammering / abusing any poster who dared to suggest anything to the contrary !!

We all know how this works
Yeah I understand the cynicism and to be honest I would be one of those telling everyone they were a good prospect and squad player that would hopefully step up. If we needed starting players I would still expect that on top.

And I know history tells us otherwise but perhaps I am just an optimist when it comes to Spurs (certainly not everything in life as my wife has occasion to tell me).

First of all when did I say villa were ahead of us.
Second as for lavishing praise, when we do something special then we will, so the clock is ticking watch this space.
