One centreback with the right profile to go straight into the first team would be satisfactory.
When teachers wrote that word on my school reports, it meant that I hadn't done very well. Bare minimum. It's not a word that should be acceptable at any PL club, let alone a top 6 one.

Every transfer window, there's always a niggling feeling of patching up rather than properly strengthening. It's no secret to anyone with eyes what we need at the back.

You seem to think if a club has conviction then that is SUFFICIENT to sign a player.

But players have interests and motivations and agency so as NotThatTedHughes NotThatTedHughes has clearly laid out, your assertion doesn’t hold true in reality. It’s messy out there and we’re dealing with probabilities.

So why haven't we landed our targets, if all we have to do is offer what we're willing to pay?

No one else is bidding for them, so the market value MUST be whatever we offer by your logic.

Funny how Spurs are required to accept a cheap offer, by our own fans no less, but are required to pay inflated demands. Funnily enough, also by our own fans.

I can't think of a single rival team that has fans that think like that, much less blurt it all over the internet.
There’s different dynamics for different players and value and strategy should be adjusted. 20M for a six choice MF’er with 20 months on his contract is fine. 10M for Sanchez, just deal and get it done

The sooner you stop pretending that you and NotThatTedHughes NotThatTedHughes aren't one and the same the sooner this forum becomes less tedious.

It really is tiresome.
You’re saying that because we’re smart and agree on many issues. I don’t go around saying that the people who are thick and are ENIC out are the same people. Unfortunately I am able to imagine that there are dozens of ENIC out people who are barely able to string two thoughts together.

Conviction often is sufficient. Make a player feel wanted, then show the courage of your convictions by getting the deal done.

As I posted yesterday, Tapsoba has been silent on this, and I believe that personal terms have been agreed, even if they are tentative, so the only dynamic we need to change is that with the selling club. We want the player, so the responsibility lies with us to provide a deal that satisfies both them and us.
Why is it important to make a player feel wanted?

I think you are confusing what is necessary from the clubs perspective with what is sufficient. If the club is going to act within its locus of control then it will do as you say but wisdom is recognising that there are things that exist outside of our locus of control.

Your second paragraph is mostly supposition.

It's important because every time we want to sign a player, we are asking him to uproot his life for us. Would you want to move away from your home/friends/family and/or disrupt their lives at a moment's notice?
I completely agree. The point I was getting at is that making a player feel wanted is important because you have to CONVINCE them to come. The player’s agreement is a necessary part of any transfer. So our conviction alone isn’t sufficient to get the deal done. The player has to want to come to.

I reckon ENIC in vs Out is getting like Brexit on here , what we need is a poll to decide which path we take as a club, but first who is the man who can make Tottenham great again?
party trump GIF

Sell PEH for the offer placed, pay the asking price for Tapsoba, get Muani as the new forward then we can all have a sigh of relief and the club has the Kane money to come in still. See if we can swap Ndombele for Nelsson.

When a rebuild is taking place a club is bound to lose money on transfers, We need to be decisive.

Then get rid of Sanchez et al as expected.

100%. Don’t pay asking price for every transfer, but now and again when the situation and opportunity means you have to, do it. Liv did that with VVD and look at the return

We’ve bought well with Madd/Solomon so offset those bargains and overpay where we are desperate
