I’ll comment on Vdv as that’s where my difference of opinion with you lies.

He’s excellent with the ball at his feet, and is a very aware player with good positional sense (probably needed if paired alongside Romero).

He’s also very quick and has plenty of agility - this would be very handy in Ange’s system.

He is great at playing out from the back. He also, unlike Romero, isn’t one for flying into tackles. Again, this would complement Romero.

He’s calm under pressure, doesn’t panic, and is good with possession.

Genuinely think he’d be a very good defender alongside Romero

I appreciate it would be a big leap for him coming to the PL but he’s young, and can be taught. Has a very high ceiling. There’s a reason he’s highly rated.

All that said, I absolutely think he’s a bit of a project atm. We should be buying him AND Tapsoba.
I don’t disagree with the rosy view of VdV and what he could be. You’re right he’s a smart and progressive passer and no mug with the ball at his feet either. He is always calm as well (this can be a negative when there’s a player running past you at a high speed, but I digress). And athletically he has the upper body strength and the pace of a modern center half. He is very much a physical match next to the Haalands of the world. The profile is one I’m interested in.

The issue is that a lot of people have just seen that he’s fast and 1.94m or whatever it is and think wow what a beast sign him up. When in reality, he’s much more fast than he is quick (think Kaboul) and this leads to meh tackling. Overall my issue is his lack of aggression and command over forwards - he backs off players as you said, and is also far from dominant in the air (something like a 50% win rate in duels). Currently at least, I think he is less than the sum of his gifts and is not ready to transform our defense.

I am not really as opposed to him as a project but if he’s brought in he’d play a lot. And I’m very unsure whether he’s ready to be a commanding, locked in defender against the fast, physical, and complex PL attackers.
Edit: Whilst I don’t agree that you posting one or two videos amounts to 100% fact, I do agree VDV isn’t the best in the air (by a long way), but I think his other abilities would make him a great signing (for the future).

I was a bit of a dick to you to be honest, and I apologise. You’re one of the more rational and good posters on here.
Tapsoba would be a must. I’m fine with VDV as long as we do get Tapsoba or another true Starting XI CB.

Just here to talk football mate as i said. No worries at all. I just really don’t have time for the personal stuff, it clutters up threads.

Yeah everything you just said is fair. I don’t disagree.

Thanks for having the patience to accept my apology and reply.

Where football is broken is when chelsea are meant to be our rivals, have a smaller stadium and lower gameday income but can spend 30m multiple time for their farm team but we are deciding between a 30m project CB OR and older starting 11 CB.

The whole thesis of the stadium changing things has been blown out the water and Levy doesn't seem interested in adapting his plan to the reality.

Too cowardly to tag me, hey.

Don’t like my posts, put me on ignore. In fact, I genuinely (and normally I post pretty tongue in cheek) now, I’ve not seen one single intelligent, thought out post on here since you befouled this forum with your stink. So I’ll pop you on ignore and we can both wallow in our own shit.

Edit: Same goes for my stalker kingdawson kingdawson

What tier is he even? Surely he can't just be tier 1 by association?
It could be that the rumors of the club being pissed off with Ali Gold are true so they’ve just fed him this information to mug Ali off 🤣

Guesty rarely reports anything iirc but he’s football london so it’s probably not just made up searching for clicks, they don’t do that
