Just saying - Son's a LW, always been a LW, 14 months ago he won the golden boot as a LW. If, at 31, we tell him to pack it in and try to be a CF full time and trot out rinsed Perisic or unproven Solomon at LW because we're too stupid/cheap to buy a 2nd CF then I'll officially join Tottenham Massive Tottenham Massive and commit to the #ENICOUT brigade full time, post 10 times a day calling Levy a bald embezzling cunt, and wear a FUCK OFF ENIC shirt to a match this year.

Son has played CF for us plenty...... Big games and big goals too.

Besides; it's not like it's being suggested he'd be our ONLY CF option.

why are people so concerned with what we're paying for VDV?

I couldn't give a toss. He appeared to be one of our main CB targets an we appear to be getting him rather then settle for lenglet type back up options.

£60m.

Now to talk about the add ons .....

And now you know why we are persisting with VDV

Another Tottenham paradox.

Can't afford/won't pay up for the top top shelf.

Go for a younger less experience player with higher upside. But the player profile we're looking for is so specific that the selling team knows they still can bend us over at the negotiations table.

I posted before seeing your response, but I doubt we will be loaning him. He has the attributes to start playing from the off and we will not be relying on his goal scoring as much, since the system will produce goals from many other positions on the pitch.

Also apparently waiting on his European passport which will take until the end of the year anyway. About the same period as the loan...

Yes, Son who has played CF sparingly throughout his career but won a golden boot playing almost exclusively LW and Richarlison who has scored :checks notes: 1 league goal in 1000 minutes.

100% the CF rotation we ought to go bounding into the season with!

I mean, I know we don't think he's all that, but this is actually quite flattering really.

Guy is willing to turn down obscene money because he wants to come here. Honestly, if we do sign him, providing he's not our BIG signing in that position, I'll give him some goodwill and a clean slate.

I don't what him; but I do appreciate this take.

Oh come off it, we’ve talked about this before multiple times haven’t we?

That goal right there is emblematic of his flaws as a defender. It’s not a mistake it’s a trend, a defining characteristic. He stands off and stands off. I’ve written at length about this.

A trend.

Find me an exact clip from one of those 11,000+ minutes he's played that show the same error. Until then, it's not a trend. It's a defensive error.

Right here I have 5 glaring, undeniably poor errors directly leading to a goal. Even as bad as Dier was this year, you’d be hard pressed to find 5 mistakes of his that look as bad as this

So we're at the point of highlighting all the negatives from random goals?

I could give you a list of goals Tapsoba should be doing better at too or the mistakes he's made leading to goals, if you'd really like?

I will assume you probably wouldn't want that.

I bloody know he has a lot of potential but when you’re spunking £40m you aren’t just buying potential. That’s my entire issue with it. Buying him for this fee significantly decreases the chances of buying another first team CB. And if he is to start from day 1, we are in trouble. He is not good enough at the moment.

I'll keep the tissues free for when we're battling relegation with a £80m centre back pairing.

That's entirely moot:

1. Poch would have insisted on playing Kane regardless.
2. Dembele doesn't play CF.
3. He wasn't fit enough to play for months when he first arrived in China.
4. Let's say he did play... We could have quite easily got a "big game" performance like his v Man U in the FA Cup Semi where he got rinsed by Pogba instead.
5. Expecting him to roll back the years having barely played for 5 months would have just as likely seen an increasingly frail player like him pull a hamstring in the first 5 minutes.

Playing with a virtual 9 men (rather than a virtual 10 men) wouldn't have helped us overcome a parked Liverpool bus in that scorching heat.
The whole CL final is now moot because it’s done.
Poch did play a half fit Kane and a fully fit Sissoko and we all know how it ended.
A FULLY RESTED Dembele was the difference in my view. You won’t change it. And if I’m wrong, he should have been replaced in the window he left without hesitation. The most dominating MF player I have seen at Spurs in decades. He would have done better than Sissoko if he’d had a stone in one boot and a dildo in the other.

As an aside, if he’d pulled a hammy in the first 5 minutes we wouldn’t have conceded a penalty within 20 seconds?
