I agree Conte didn’t build what he wanted to. They did get him Perisic though and he moaned about UTD being able to sign players at that end of the maturity scale

I tuned out of the droning very quickly tbh........ Long before the tantrums started.

Perisic is the only one that really spring to mind.... Well him and Forster, but #2 keepers are a dif;. proposition.

The idea that we have to make any kind of quick decision on Lenglet is laughable.

He’s on loan without an option to buy. He will return to Barca at the end of the loan period. He’s under contract there until 2026 although, as I recall, Barca were trying (unsuccessfully?) to cancel his contract. His salary is over €10m although I can’t find an actual figure. He will be coming off of a mediocre season in the Prem and, at 27, isn’t likely to be thought of as having untapped potential. Barca are also desperate to clear wage room. I just don’t see a busy (any?) market for the player and wonder if Barca would let him go for free.
I would think that the biggest hurdle to any deal would be Lenglet himself as he might not fancy taking a 50% pay cut and starting over in a foreign country. A loan might suit him better. However, if Barca let him go on a free and he could negotiate a decent signing bonus in lieu of reduced wages then this might induce him to go. Realistically, if Barca threaten to keep him around and bury him on the bench, it’s not going to affect his international playing career so they don’t have any leverage that I can see

I hope not...

Chelsea outcast Edouard Mendy could be set for shock transfer switch to Premier League rivals after rejecting new deal

TOTTENHAM have emerged as surprise contenders to sign Edouard Mendy when Chelsea’s summer clearout kicks off.
Chelsea’s bitter rivals are preparing to say goodbye to long-serving keeper and captain Hugo Lloris at the end of the season.

Could you, just once, make a post that isn't complete shit.

He knew the rules. He deserves the ban. No, it is not a disgrace.

What I disagree with is football clubs being allowed to use gambling organisations as sponsors for so long. That should've been stopped ages ago.

What about the 7-8 Premiership clubs whose shirts are sponsored by betting firms? Apparently it’s stoppimg in about a year.Still seems hypocritical that they can do it.

I wouldn’t be upset about this, he was outstanding when he first joined them and you can’t judge a player at that shithole over the last 18 months or so

He’s a really good keeper

Lenglet's ceiling is West Ham, Palace, Wolves. Nowhere near good enough for where we wanna go...and would already be if we weren't run by clowns.

Even at 5 mil a season, it's fucking madness. I wouldn't take him for 2 mil.

Hincapie is Lenglet without the Barca & France experience. He can go to Fulham for all I care.

He's a keeper. Keepers should retain form regardless of team shitshow more than any other position.

He had an insane period in the season they win the CL and he won the AFCON but completely lost it since then. He's also got an ego bigger than the sun.

We don't need any more of that shit here.

Agree on lenglet but haven’t seen enough of hincapie to comment

If it's between he & Pickford, I'm picking him.

Chelsea done him dirty, he'll wanna put it right at his next club.

Guy came from nowhere, had to battle extra hard to make it, was very very good his first season...then Chelsea did what Chelsea does. He's got character and that's what we need.

I don't see him as our best option, and he'd cost a fair wad, but he's better than most quoted so far.

I don't know much about Hincapie and the very little I've seen wasn't noteworthy. Anyone wanna vouch for him?

Also, I just don't have any faith in our recruitment people to know the difference between a good CB and bad one. Or to do the background checks etc.

Explain to me how this works. Why should a keeper always be on his A-game even when his club and team are in disarray, but it's fine for outfield players to drop their level? It makes zero sense.

Really? Where'd you get that from? It's weird cause the Chelsea fans I know blame him for a few things, but not his ego. Having spoken to a few people in France about him, and reading/watching his interviews in the media, he definitely doesn't come across as a super egotistical person...quite the opposite. His story is one of hardship, guy made it as a pro pretty late, after going through some difficult times. Maybe he's got a right to be proud of his achievements (that are rather impressive) considering where he started, no?

We don't need any more of that shit here.
You obviously don't like him, probably cause of the Chelsea connection. And that's fine. But doesn't mean you can talk rubbish about the kid.

Come on...hit X on another of my posts, much easier than arguing your point. You're better than that, pal

Alright the ego comment was over the top. I appreciate his work and struggle to get to the top, but he did show a bad attitude after that big season he had. Complaining about not being in the ballon d'or shortlist, refused to sign a new contract (supposedly) unless he got the same amount as Kepa.

As for his quality, he did have the one great season, but after that he became stastically one of the worst keepers in the league. That's very concerning, it's one thing to have a dip, but not such a crash.

My point about keepers is that it's a specialist position that requires the most mental fortitude and consistency. Keeper is also the least tactically demanding role on the pitch, especially if you're not asking for top notch ability on the ball like Ederson. So the team going to shit should affect him the least.

I’ve always thought Mendy did pretty well until the world cup. I think he actually started to struggle prior to that but I wasn’t watching all the Chelsea games over that span. However he is an age 31 keeper reliant on athleticism. I would not go for him unless it’s very cheap and he’s brought in to fight for the starting spot with another option.
