It has to be said that anyone who lasts five years as manager of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is a special talent.

Even managers who were considered to be a success didn't last beyond two full seasons (as was the case with Martin Jol and Gerry Francis). Harry Redknapp was the first manager to do it since Terry Venables and even then he was sacked as soon as the third season ended.

This issue goes further back than Levy. It was an issue with Sugar and arguably Scholar as well.

Its early days for Ange but I'm already excited about what he's doing with the team and I'm quietly hopeful that he will be our next "special one".

:ange-arms:
Why ?
Poch played this way the 1st season, and we collapsed in January, knackered by all the chasing. He is not attracting players because hebis here.

3 good players for two positions makes sense. I’m less bought into having two players for every position
The reality of being out of Europe is that we don't have the fixtures to keep a large squad getting a run in the team.

It's a particularly acute problem up front. Any of our current front 3 not consistently starting immediately becomes a disastrous sore thumb situation.

That doesn't in any way mitigate how essential competition for places is to maintaining competitiveness, it just is what it is.

This club is in a very tough moment right now.

Worth a quick recap on our squad at this point (after buying Van de Ven) - we have 20 'overseas trained players' currently (including an injured Gil who isn't going to go anywhere this window), so we need to move on Lloris, Ndombele and Reguilon just to get back to the maximum 17 we are allowed in a squad

Then assuming that we need 2 incomings who will be overseas trained, we need to see Sanchez or Dier and Hojbjerg moving on (to get to 15 overseas trained players - see list at bottom of post - the next most likely would be Perisic or Lo Celso, pretty much everyone else we want to stay.

I can't see us buying 2 more CB's after Van de Ven, hence I think its either/or Dier/Sanchez, not both going..

On the HG front, we are short of quality, and dividing it into UEFA types (as we want to be back in europe next season, so lets build the squad that way :

Club trained - Skipp, Austin ..... Tanganga and White
Other Association trained - Maddison, Forster, Davies ..... and Spence, Sessegnon (inj)

But what this shows is that to get 3 players in we really need (both next season and long term) one incoming to be HG, with possibly Spence moving on if he is not going to be used by Ange .

These are the 15 'Overseas players I think we want to keep and add to in this window :
Vicario, Romero , Dier or Sanchez , Ven de Ven, Royal, Persic , Porro Bissouma , Bentancur , Lo Celso, Son, Kulusevski , Richarlison, Solomon Gil - although we also have Sarr and Udogie who will count as u21's this season but 'overseas trained players' when over 21.

Agree but 3 into 2 CB’s and 4 into 3 forwards is ok

At this point, Atletico Madrid needs extra funds to meet Tottenham's valuation for the Pierre transfer. They've suggested Felix to Tottenham, but Felix prefers Barcelona. Notably, Tottenham has had a longstanding interest in felix.
Ange emphasises his preference for players who truly desire to join the team.

A PL club is trying to sign Eze. We aren’t that club atm

Don't think Felix would come here, but I'm very interested to know what kind of deal structure Atletico would be proposing, surely they'd want a good €30M on top of Hojbjerg to let him go considering how much they paid for him...
Probably a load of old bollocks anyway.

It’s obviously all fantastic bollocks, but I like Felix. Really good player. Never happen though; he’s on mega money. And he likely thinks we’re shit.

Sounds believable.
But then so did Ponzi.

Gets decent team news for FPL.

Called a few woolwich transfers early this summer.

Big time gooner and probably gets fed stuff that woolwich want out there.

If i am guessing it's BS and we have not asked for this flowery bogeyrun or whatever his name is
Yeah he gets Woolwich stuff idk how but he does. I mean, it probably is true.

The thing is that, we may have enquired, but that means fuck all. An inquiry will just end with them saying he’s not on sale or they’d demand like £65m for him which is obviously a joke.

It won’t happen.
