There's an Inter Miami, why not Inter Luton?
Decisions, decisions... Inter or Luton? ⚖️

Newcastle may be rich but it is blood money.

Yet some (lots of!) players and managers are more than happy to take Saudi (or Qatari, or Abu Dhabi or Russian) money regardless.

Maddison didn't..... Props to the lad; but being suprised about that doesn't make me a troll or guilty of peddling a false, derogatory narrative about Spurs.

Outside perception of us - on the pitch! - isn't good atm...... If we're being honest with each other; m'thinks you may have noticed this, but for some reason you chose to call ME a "troll" instead.

The players may not have to live in shitty one bed flats in Newcastle but when it comes to the other things the city comes with it. Take Tonali who is dating fashion influencer Juliette Pastore who if they get married will have to move from one of the Fashion Capitals of the world to Newcastle which is not renowned for it fashion boutiques. While London is another Fashion Capital and unlike Milan it may not be home to the original Gucci Store it does have most of the famous designer outlets. Never forget the amenities and night life in London is a massive draw for these young millionaires.

I'm not sure what the Tonali GF chatter was meant to establish, but he chose NC (however reluctant he was to leave Milan). :deledoubt:

The Ange thing is a return to the dynamic with Poch really.

Poch was not mad Levy wasn't buying him players. Poch was mad Levy and the media were holding him to a level of expectations the club's level of investment made totally unrealistic.

Poch was happy to stay here forever as a scrappy 5th place team that he had total cultural control of. His own excellence made that impossible, in the end.

At least right now, this season, what Ange wants is to show the Premier League his football with no doubts and no compromises and if we finish 12th so be it. He says this plainly every time you put a microphone in front of him. Whether he'll have the quality and depth on September 1 to nick 4th spot is not on his mind at all, that's not what he's aiming at.

He intends to win and believes the uncompromising application of his methods (alongside sensible investment of course) will get us there in time, but watering down his principles to salvage results in the short term will never be a consideration, ever.

Strap in, it's gonna be a bumpy ride.

that line of thinking needs to be completely stripped from the club, from top to bottom. 4th spot should be considered a disappointing season.

"Erik Lamela looked at me with disgust when I asked if Tottenham could finish in top four... he said, my friend we could win the title!"

London is a massive draw and all premier league clubs pay high wages. Maddison was not going to be paid more at Newcastle than he is at Spurs. Also Newcastle who last won the FA Cup in 1956 and that is the last trophy they won.

Is there the slightest semblance of fact to this comment or is it just assumption........?

I don't even know how much we are paying JM tbh.

And look there likely will be. Even I am not that pessimistic. It seems there are 6 or 7 potential outgoings aside from Lloris which is good news.

The problem as I am trying to eloquently state is that if we do say sell Hojbjerg or Sanchez, each of whom have significant rumours about their outgoings, it’ll likely be done with a week remaining in the window. And we do need to replace them in the squad, we cannot have Dier and Davies as CB depth and we need another 6 who can cover Bissouma.

Waiting this long to sell players puts us in a horrific position to replace them with only a week left in the window. That’s the whole issue with waiting this late, it always is.

If interested clubs don't make bids then we can't sell. We are not "waiting" to sell players. We are not choosing to wait. We are having to wait because buying clubs know that they will get a better deal when we start getting desperate close to the deadline.

This is what happens when you stack your squad with average players that would struggle to get a game at Forest.

I dont like a loan tbh, he'll be at either club for depth and if they can have him for free for a year they'll just move on to a different target next summer. Either someone else like Tanganga that they can loan cheaply or a significant upgrade they're actually willing to pay for.

I doubt anyone will pay money for someone who has been injured for most of the last 2 seasons and has not even played consistently in one position. If the loan goes well, other clubs may be interested.

Just watched the pc on spurs play...

gonna hold my hand up, on video def comes off more like he's saying expect incoming players.

👍

Given the mass Ange-lovefest, whatever tweet I'm alluding to will absolutely be in the Ange thread somewhere.

You might not like my point of view on some things, but I promise you I am not in the business of bullshitting people.

..............And he also seems confident that we will do. From the VERY same tweet:

And on Sunday he said he's "sure" will bring more in.

............But your corner of the room are persistently ignoring those comments.

#BadFaithDebating.
I would be much more patient if we hadn’t just sold the club’s best and greatest player in the past 50 years for £100m and signed exactly one front 3 player, a 5’6” rotation winger on a free.

I was expecting some urgency after we sold a 30 goal/season striker, which, you know, obviously significantly weakens the squad.

Our best bet for regular goals is to put the guy who is only 15 months removed from winning the golden boot up front. We need a 1v1 threat on the left. We lack a dribbler who can disrupt the defensive shape of the opposition.
Perisic has looked really good at LW in pre-season! Beating opponents, and putting good crosses in.

Why not try a new front 3 against Manure. Son striker, Solomon on the right, and Perisic on the left?!

I am saying it is one of the big turn offs for players especially when moving to a city they know absolutely nothing about. I have been to both Milan and Newcastle and I for one would see living in Newcastle as a downgrade over living in Milan. These kind of things are still important to players and one of the reasons we have been able to get the likes of Van Der Vaart because they know London they probably only heard of Newcastle football club.

Could it be a concoction of incompetence coupled with ENIC resting on their laurels as we’ve now moved into the new money printing machine stadium which means they no longer have to put in as much effort for one field success? (Not that there was ever any major effort from them, but there is an argument to be made that is has indeed decreased in recent seasons)

Totally agree and I think that it's important to make the distinction on incompetence between the football and financial operations of the company. You can easily make the case that they are connected, but it's hard to argue in which one we seem to be far more astute.

You kind of summarized my general feelings about Levy and ENIC. I think it's a combination of incompetence from a footballing perspective coupled with a desire for success but only within their preset financial parameters.

They got a lot of newbie gains from where the club was and frankly hit the jackpot with certain players and Poch during their tenure. Now that the league has become flooded with money and increased competition their old tricks just don't work anymore.
