Ferguson isn’t going to start every game at Brighton this year.

He’s nowhere near ready to replace Kane. Certainly not a £100m player yet.

Brighton tax in full flow.

Let Véliz go on a Euro loan in January then see what he’s looking like next summer. Maybe 1 more loan and he could be a fucking beast.
if veliz going on loan would love it to be to a prem struggler so we can actually see what hes like.

I think we need to realize the club operates with a budget for 1st team transfers (that can have young players) and a buy to loan development pathway for younger talent (like Brighton operate).

Expecting Veliz or Scarlett to take a 1st spot this year is like expecting Phillips to be our 3rd CB.

Those players are on a different pathway.

I feel like they did have Orban lined up post Kane for the 1st team but now they are either undecided or stalling because they can’t shift any players out the door.
Where did I say that I expect Veliz or Scarlett to take a first team spot ?
That's right I didn't.

What I said was that I think that they are being assessed and a real position will be taken in January.

I'm putting together the following info ;
Knew Kane was leaving
Buying Veliz
Not loaning out Scarlett
No links to buying a forward

And came up with a scenario that fits those facts.
I'm not saying I'm right, I'm not saying it's a true , I'm only saying that it's a possibility that explains why we haven't signed a forward.

I don't believe that is spending £30 - £40m is dependent on getting players out the door, considering our net spend is low this season.

Anyways, it's just my musings and nothing to get hung up about so I'll leave it there and others can have their own opinions.

No biggie.

Ange has the kane money and a fresh transfer budget to fill that slot.

Also, although we don't want lemglet he's still better than dier and davies at cb. So conte was right.

We all know he wanted a proper cb as a priority (I.e. bastoni) and ended up with a lemglet loan
Conte also had a ton of money, he decided we should get Richarlison for 60m and Porro for 40m. The idea that Bastoni was a "proper CB" is a hilarious, he would have had exactly the same issues Lenglet had.

Lack of urgency is what we do. Learning from past mistakes on the other hand...

We've known for ages that Hugo wants to go, it's ridiculous he's still here. The lad shoulda been released so he could pick his next club and get a big cheque, he's earned it.

Dier is a different animal. He doesn't want to go, still thinks he's our own Puyol, and I don't think the offers have been there...at least ones appealing enough to him/Spurs.

The rest of the deadwood, it's criminal they're still here. It's them highly paid people's jobs to find them clubs, put things in place so transfers happen.

I've been silent on the Kane situation, had actually drafted a long un but never posted it for peace's sake, but I'll just say this...the way it went down was a friggin joke, made a right mockery out of Spurs (again) thanks to the powers that be.

We've had a good start, yeah...but it's just two games. And the squad still has a few big holed that I'm afraid won't be filled and it'll show in a few weeks' time. Though Dan Dan expects Ange to work miracles a la Poch, which obviously would be a big win for him...spend 25% of what you really should but get top results.
Agree with every word.

Dier has earned his contract getting cut if he’s not playing here. Played injured last year. Good club servant imo.

But yes, Levy is looking at those 2 games and thinking it’s his cue to do less not work harder in the transfer window. I don’t really get how people can’t see his patterns of behaviour repeating.

Spence was bought to play 1st team but Conte disagreed.

I’m not having a go at you mate.

just sharing what it looks like at the club in terms of development pathway.

Tbh they could do a much better job of communication at times

Sarr was bought and stayed on loan his first year. He was the start of the whole thing really.

Gil is another that was bought for this pathway. I think. He’s maybe a grey area. Can’t remember what Nuno did.

Spence was bought to play 1st team but Conte disagreed.

Spence & Gil would have both been a lot better off being loaned back (in DSs case, Forest rather than Boro'.)...... Hopefully lessons are learned from U-dog & Sarr, but it doesn't always pay off (see Clarke/Leeds..... There's a danger that a the former club starts to view them differently when they no longer own them.).

I suspect we might have been better off in the long run to leave Veliz in Arg for another 12-18 months too but in fairness we don't know how Ange will treat him yet.

Clarke was before Paratici I think?

He was brought as a young 1st team player then figured he’s wasn’t ready. More like a Spence situ. If he’d been treated more like UDog and Sarr, he might be ready now.
