It will change nothing. I don't believe he ever wanted to be here since Maureen and Wiggy have been at the helm. He wants to go back to Spain.

Shop window agitation.
Hey don’t blame me😀
Bloody was so excited we got gio and tanguy in summer 19 when poch was here. The clips of their play up to that point i their careers were so encouraging. As you say after poch the 2 dinos really had no time for players like that. Such a shane the way it’s worked out.

You're speaking as if a 22 year old kid is a finished product. We as fans seem to harp on all the things a player can't do where as a good manager (Ange... hopefully) figures out how to get the best of a player.
He's not going to significantly improve his technique, which is the biggest issue with him. Ange could still use him as a willing runner, but you'd hope that 50m would get you more than that.

The other issue I have with Johnson is if you look at his best season (and indeed this appears in a lot of the highlights) it coincides directly with Djed Spence playing behind him. So I’m inclined not to trust it at all.

If Spence is willing to do it I feel like every promotion-chasing club in the Championship would be queueing up to sign him on loan and start him every week at right back, and that would make the situation look much better in a year whether we want to integrate him into the team or sell him.

Clever way of getting sacked and paid for it .....
Thinking Yep GIF by Mike Hitt

"Breaking news: Nuno Espirito Santos 'disappears' overnight...... Club say there's no cause for concern, but they will be seeking a compliant replacement forthwith."

I agree but more nerdier football watchers than myself dont see how he hits the right data points either.

I wanted him last summer but was disappointed with him last season, plus in the game I watched him live at our home game I thought he reminded me of a shitter version of Walcott.
Well on the plus side then, if he is shit he'll still only be 24 / 25, likely on a low salary and British. Other clubs will happily take a punt on him. Won't be like trying to shift Ndombecunt.

It's defence we need to sort out still. Schuurs would be very good, I think they still think that paying 180k per week for a back up defender is a good idea and Lengelet will be the other one.
Orban at 35m would be good business, yes he's 5'9....didnt stop Aguero, Defoe, Salah etc, etc... Even if he isn't as good as I think he is we still got back ups in Richy, Sonny, Dane and Veliz.... He is well worth the punt... If it works it's a winner, if he fails we won't lose a shit ton of money.... Person ly though I think he will do alright

He’s not a finished product but there is a general assumption that all good young players get better (at a similar rate) and that’s not always the case.

There’s plenty that are like sess (or dele) and peak at 18-22 before injuries or limitations cause regression.

Not saying that will happen to Johnson but I haven’t seen football intelligence from him and that’s always a big concern to me because it’s not a skill players tend to just magically find.

Long term, we either invest like our competition or the club is going absolutely nowhere, including in revenue growth terms for ENIC.
The only way to move the needle is for City like investment.
Chelsea have won two UCL championships in the last 11 (or is it 12?) years and couldn’t move that needle. The general EPL riding ride has slowed and it will need a ESL type event to provide the same kind of explosive growth that has taken Spurs from a 35m investment to a multi-billion pound asset.
Having said that, if you look at the financial statements from last season, ENIC doesn’t need that kind of growth to be extremely profitable.
