The system. He can play high line, I’d rather he be 4th choice but any defender we have now needs pace, it’s how we play and Sanchez has that. If we get say Tosin and keep Sanchez as 4th choice it’s not perfect but we have some cover. As for Dier he is simply too slow to play high line, Ange would rather play Davies our left back in place of him. Dier if he stays will be lucky to even see the bench.
People have become fixated on the high line.

What they fail to realise is the system also encourages a press from opposition sides so we can play through the lines and turn defence into attack very quickly, this requires incisive accurate passing.

In all 3 league games we’ve had squeaky bum moments where we build from the back.

There might not be a worse CB in the premier league than Sanchez to play that sort of high-risk high-reward style of football.

Also, I've always thought Sanchez being that quick is kinda a myth. I've seen people go past him easily so many times.

Is £50m Johnson high risk? He is a prospect, he is not a striker, he hasn't set the world on fire at 22
He was Championship player of the year when they went up at 20, and had a very solid first season in the PL while they were a side of strangers thrown together.

Plus the £50m will be amortised over a long contract and his wages will probably be pretty reasonable. It's not a crazy deal financially.
