The masses are asses...and their ignorance shouldn't be pandered to...it mostly ends up going wrong. Do the job, do it right and the proper outcomes will follow. Otherwise you end up with deadwood...and future deadwood replacing current deadwood...rinse and repeat.

If we had a history of xfer competence then folks would be excited about any xfer because we'd be comfortable in the fact that all new players would be decent. but we don't have that...we have a guy throwing spaghetti against the wall/listening to agents that make shit xfers easy for him. This could go all wrong now that teams have film on us...Ange's tactics will no longer be a surprise.

Fact of the matter is that you're getting someone who is very comfortable on the ball, relatively quick, HG and young ish. But he's not the greatest defender, if you're asking him to do what VDV does which is cover and use his speed to sweep things up then he'd be an OK back up option. Don't expect him to be anything like Vertonghen or even Laporte.

We should be looking for someone better than VDV if we were ambitious, but of course we aren't.
