Arguably as good if not better history than we have. The largest club in England’s second city and owned by the richest man in Egypt (who is richer than Lewis and his wealth is independent of the club).Tells you the state of things when Villa are dropping 55m on aplayer.
Think your missing my point. Im saying replacing a starting CB and GK is a very ambitious move. There obviously not at that level but its the kind of bold strategy Liverpool did and we should have done ages ago. To dare is to....build a hotel...right?They are not at that level. VVD was one of the best defenders in the PL and Alisson probably the best GK in the world when they signed him.
Are we really mentioning that they're in England's second city like its a positive?Arguably as good if not better history than we have. The largest club in England’s second city and owned by the richest man in Egypt (who is richer than Lewis and his wealth is independent of the club).
This is probably a current Villa level move.
Plus, the Prem is awash in money.
Haven't seen him recently but that was my opinion of him last year when Spurs were supposed to be interested. Not been impressed by Torres the couple of games I saw. Not a great passer at all and looked nervous.
For sure.Arguably as good if not better history than we have. The largest club in England’s second city and owned by the richest man in Egypt (who is richer than Lewis and his wealth is independent of the club).

Yeah, and they also spent a huge amount going all the back to the championship season. For sure.
Just saying that 50m used to be the domain of top 4 clubs only.
For Villa, they are still very low on revenue aren’t they?
We don’t have to mention it at all. You can also ignore the fact that all of Europe’s most successful teams come from large population centers. I’m good with both. Are we really mentioning that they're in England's second city like its a positive?
I agree, and yet it's tough when we're so thin at CB.Of all the deadwood at the club, this guy is the one we should be seriously contemplating just paying off his contract to get him out.
It will be absolutely criminal if he is still getting into match day squads next season, never mind potentially starting games.
Just because two years ago Rob Holding and David Luiz were available to only give Gabriel the exposure he was ready for as a young first year PL CB does not make those two GOOD players, they played as shitty as ever and that year's Woolwich team paid the price, but they were USEFUL players to the extent they allowed for the best development path for the guy that mattered to their future.I agree, and yet it's tough when we're so thin at CB.
That rump final year of Dier's contract can act as a bridge to a promising young prospect we sign this summer who might not be ready to get thrown to the wolves as a regular starter in a team struggling to get accustomed to risk-heavy Angeball.
People go too far with all the fetishization of "rebuilding", but that's the kind of thing where letting go of the idea that "the 2023/24 season is the be-all, end-all, where all the contradictions of the club have to come good and make everything perfect" provides an opportunity to do development work we have ignored for years.
