I'd bet good money Levy has another year's option in Harry's contract. Here’s the thing,
If Kane doesn’t sign a new contract this summer, we are essentially spending 90m plus wages for a 1 year loan.
As stubborn as Levy is, I can’t see any business person in their right mind doing that
Maddison played an 8 at Leicester, but was the one with the license to get forward.I have a hunch (and it’s nothing more than that) that Ange isn’t going to go his traditional 433 this season and will try a 4231 instead?
Why?
A lot of our players just don’t seem to fit the system he normally plays. Our set of full backs are broadly attacking and we’ve spent a significant sum over the last 12 months on Porro, Spence and Udogie who don’t seem to suit inverted full backs.
I’ve seen talk of Royal in that role but that petrifies me. A player that limited technically near the CM position is a frightening prospect.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to have full backs bombing on and a more conservative CM pairing?
Similarly I don’t see Maddison as an 8 at all. Could he do a job? Possibly. But you’re definitely not getting the most out of the asset by playing him there. The man is best as a 10 making things happen in dangerous areas and I feel that’s where we’ll deploy him. Similarly I’ve seen mention of Kulu as an 8, are people really confident he can be effective there?
Nothing about the current composition of the squad says 433 to me, it feels much better suited to a 4231 with attacking full backs and a more conservator CM pair.
As I say, just a hunch and I’m more concerned with the attempted brand that the tactical setup in the first few months under Ange. But a lot of it is pointing that way…..

Harry stays this season.

Lots of contracts are for x years with another year's option. I believe we had one with Lucas but didn't use it.
I hope you are not a teacherGood.
Fuck Bayern. Arsehole arrogant wankers get their way all the time - they can chew on my sweaty nuts.
So many people moan about the academy but if Winks goes for £8m then in the last 11 years we have received £110m in fees and loans for the yoot.I’m in shock anyone would pay 10M for Winks - But he’s an academy lad who showed some quality pre injury under Poch - Good luck to him.
Same age as Son, less than a year older than Kane. Ridiculous to get him in.Genuinely wouldn't say no. He wouldn't start, but being able to rest Son and bring in Zaha is a super good depth.
Silly question really.
yup and that's fair. He surely wants the Prem record as it's more certain than a medal elsewhere. With Ange football we are likely to see more goals which must appeal. The only team in England who can guarentee Kane trophies is Manchester City but they have Haaland so no longer require Kane. What he mght be doing is kind of saying ''Daniel, Bayern Munich are offering me xyz, if you want me to sign a new contract then you need to at least match that'', So the more offers that Kane agrees to in princible the stronger his position is when it comes to contract renewal time.
That’s why we need another left back. Don’t think Davies or Sess are good enough. Both an attacking and defensive full back for each side.Maddison played an 8 at Leicester, but was the one with the license to get forward.
His Celtic system had the 6 do all the dirty work, and collect the ball from the centre halves to move it foward, and then two 8's. One was to get around the pitch and move the ball, pick up space and hound others, the other was to advance more.
I actually think we already have the perfect blend for that. Bentancur and Bissouma are both capable of playing 6 or the first 8. Maddison is the advanced 8. We need another signing in there to cover the 8's. Alex Scott would be my choice. He can play both types of 8, and would be learning off Maddison daily.
Full backs is the issue - Porro and Udogie are more suited to a wing back system, which isn't going to happen. Udogie is youn enough to be trained into it. Porro I think can learn it, but it'll take time. Emerson needs to be kept.
Yes. I'm far too intelligent to be a teacher. Have a better paid job too.
This isn't relevant to the transfer thread by the way, so kindly get back on topic.
Sure, case in point Alan Shearer.historically do players get more reference/credit for:
A: a single league winners medal
B: all time top scorer
