Maddison would play under any attacking manager. We have zero creative, attacking midfielders. It's a no brainer, and a position that we desperately need to fill. Not all "club signings" are bad.

Its incredibly annoying that Conte blocked the transfer last summer. He really didn't want players to deviate from his robotic system and movements.

He is the level of striker one below Kane, not world class but still elite in the prem sense and Maddison is as good as almost any AM De Bruyne excepted. Those two would cover a huge amount of what Kane gives.

If Newcastle get CL and they are in for him they they we will have problems trying to sign him.

We could do a lot worse than Toney

He'll get a 6 month ban I rekon so might rule him out for half a season but I don't think that's a huge gamble.

As ludicrous as it sounds; it's been suggested that any ban will include the summer; so if he's finally 'sentenced' at the end of this season (which seems likely*), he could be back in Nov/Dec.

(*Fucking stinks that it's being deferred for so long....... He's already been found guilty of some charges, so issue a punishment and then extend if necessary. Brentford may not feel the brunt of this at all. Bogus!)

That's good, maybe they will take some sympathy on him.

Yes please, won’t replace Kane if he leaves but that is a big portion of the creativity taken care of.

I like him a lot but really do not want the club signing players when we haven't even got a manager or a DoF at the club .. stay out of fucking football matters, Daniel. One day it'll be Maddison and the next it'll be forcing some shitehawks on a coach.

This club transfers need to be more like Brighton.

Stop buying players for managers. They aren’t around long enough.

Find a trusted attack minded DOF and let him build the it’s up to the coach to get the best out of the players.

Yep. Maddison is good but maybe an attack-minded DoF might know/be able to find a player in the exact same position who he prefers & is cheaper.

We really do not want Levy buying players when we have no DoF and no coach. That's going BACKWARDS not forwards. Only shills like Shadydan Shadydan will disagree because they want Levy running everything at the club.

Again with the club signings.

He’s a good player, but we might have a a manger who says ‘go get Brandt for half the price and I’d like to play Kane as a genuine 10, with Kulu as his back up’.

Unless, of course, this is Rodgers incoming.

A coherent structure would involve ENIC hiring an experienced DoF to implement an agreed strategy - such as playing attacking, high tempo, football, signing talented players with clear potential to become top class (as per Modric, Bale, Berbatov, Eriksen, Verts, Walker) whilst giving opportunities to our most exceptional home grown Academy youngsters.

The DoF would then identify the best head coach to implement that strategy.

Once we hired a head coach who bought into the agreed plan, we would then seek to sign players to fit the tactical approach preferred by that coach.

Instead, we have Levy deciding to sign Maddison, without the involvement of a DoF or a head coach.

I note Conte allegedly turned down any move for Maddison because his system has no room for number 10s.

Whatever any of us think of Maddison as a player, there's no point signing him until we know the identity of our head coach & the system he wants to use.

We're a step short of even beginning that process. There is no long-term planning at Spurs until there is a long-term resolution of the Harry Kane situation, one way or the other.

Kane's situ shouldn't be allowed to be a barrier to getting everything else in place.

In fact, the best decision about Kane can't be made until we resolve the DOF situ..... Any cash boost will just be frittered away otherwise. Thus, in such an instance we're better off just letting Kane ride his deal out to allow us a smoother transition into whatever comes next.

Not every club signing = bad

Like I keep saying signing players which are purely manager picks is a bad strategy especially if you are building a project.

We are in a perfect position to find a manager who fits in line with the clubs philosophy and likes to play attacking football.

The club need to be proactive especially with a player like Maddison, it's a no brainer.

We just don't know anything about the basic outlines and parameters of the Spurs project until there is clarity on Kane.

And if Levy's plan is, as I suspect, to bluster and bullshit through Kane's final contractual year, then the task of setting our future course this summer is fundamentally impossible and any claims made that the club is doing that are falsehoods that should be reported and consumed as such.

Maddison is of a calibre that any attacking manager can use him, he has been linked with City, Woolwich, Newcastle and us, he is at the top end of AM’s with a proper all round skillset.

Question is can we beat Newcastle to his signature. Other signings that are more speculative as club signings would create more issues, can’t see Maddison causing an issue if we get an attacking manager.
