I know he's turning 37 years, and that he's past his peak (and that he's out for the reason) but still...

Manuel Neuer will more than likely NEVER play for Bayern Munich again, claim reports in Germany - after the veteran was blasted by club legends for attacking the decision to sack the long-term goalkeeping coach

Manuel Neuer's Bayern Munich career is more than likely over, according to reports in Germany.
The goalkeeper was distraught after the German giants sacked the long-term goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic and attacked the club's decision in a frank interview.
And BILD claim it is now 65 per cent likely that the veteran stopper, who is out for about five months after breaking his leg while skiing, will never play for the club again in aftermath of the saga.

I see we keep getting linked with Jan Oblak to be fair we have been linked with him on and off for years
but i'd be delighted if we do sign him in the summer
because hes probably the best keeper available right now who could be instant number 1

He's a great shot stopper, but I'd really like someone who can play with his feet after so many years with Lloris.

Who says Raya be a number 2?

Raya and Oblak bring different qualities to the party and for that reason would get plenty of games between them in a season depends on tactics and opposition

Raya's age, homegrown status, and willingness of Brentford to sell for the right price seems like a pretty solid opportunity to me.

Oblak is a cut above though, as is Emi Martinez though is he too Woolwich?

Broke his leg skiing at the age of 37, publically criticised internal club decisions. No thanks, we don't need the headache.

He's not better than either Raya or Oblak, that's crazy talk.
Eh, I dunno man. I admittedly don't watch much Atletico and know Oblak's reputation is big, but there is no keeper in the PL that's stamping his authority on games at Ramsdale's level atm and Southgate is an idiot for sticking with Pickford who is clearly his third best option.

Raya's quality. Not so sure about Meslier. I quite like Dean Henderson, I'd keep an eye there especially if Forest wind up relegated.

Ramsdale should not be anywhere close to an England start after the Hungary game, most shambolic performance I've seen from a keeper, resulting in a historic defeat in Wembley.

Raya: Like him
Meslier: No thanks (though he's young enough to get better)
Henderson: Still just a loan IIRC.
Sanchez: Impresses me when I've watched him, though opinion on here suggests I may have just missed his bad games.
Oblak: La Liga watchers on there suggested he (although 30 is not old for a keeper) is dropping off a bit already.

Raya? Is he that good? Only watched him a few times to be honest but he hasn’t impressed me that much, flaps at crosses a lot and seems a bit erratic to me.
Pickford for me, the guy is a serious keeper and seems to be getting better each year, only a year left on his contract, and would probably want to come
Raya stops more crosses (97th percentile) and a higher % of crosses (86th Percentile) than Pickford, Oblak, Lloris and Ramsdale.

Raya is the no-brainer #1 imo. Ticks pretty much every box, most balanced gk that might be available and hg to cap it off. None of the others mentioned are bad keepers but think Raya is a bit ahead of them all. But could very well be competition for his signature, and I have a feeling Hugo will be our #1 again next season and we'll buy some 22yo from the continent.

Pickford has the kind of energy that gets you kicked out of nightclubs, and his short range kicking isn't great. Henderson is a v good goalkeeper with very bad feet. Don't trust Meslier one bit. Haven't paid huge attention to Oblak to be fair, can't judge.
