This was back in 2020...and he's not gotten younger since then

The 35-year-old was speaking to FourFourTwo and claimed he is concentrating on his time at Madrid (h/t Daily Star):

“I’m too old to go back to Tottenham.
“I still have a year left in Madrid and then we’ll see what happens. I feel good and I want to continue playing football for a few more years. I am focused on Madrid and the things we can achieve this season.”
A bit too late IMO. He'd be another perisic. Still wouldn't mind seeing him here on a one year, or 1+1 deal.

Might be worth it just to have around for our players to learn from.

Bastoni one is definitely interesting.

Good price but his level has dropped significantly over the last two seasons. Ultimate systems player too, doesn't look particularly good in a back four. So I imagine going forward, with the thoughts behind the likes of Porro and Udogie, back three is our future.

Him at his best, Romero and another centre back with Porro and Udogie either side of them and in front of a new goalkeeper is a title competing back line.

Don't forget the ever present homegrown quota issue that seems to only affect Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. No doubt that'll rear it's ugly head again and scupper some plans.

Def sounds like we have been happy wait Inter out for Bastoni.

Is the form dip just this season? I have memories that last summer he was considered one of the top young CBs in the world but since the move flopped and the contract stalled, he's had a rough season.

Either way, that backline has the potential to be strong for years as well. Let's see but we can't argue that there is no long term planning or rebuild underway.

His form dip started last season. In fact, it coincided with Conte leaving.

He's a really good defender on his day, great with the ball and left footed so hot commodity but I can't help but feel the main reason people want him here is because Conte managed him in a title winning team and hadn't really seen him play. (Not that it's a problem, he's good) He was part of a fantastic back three that included Skriniar (Now on his way to PSG) and de Vrij who was absolutely brilliant in that title winning season.

Either way, he's streets ahead of Pau Torres. And that name worries me every transfer window. He, like Bastoni, only has a year left on his contract and it will sadden me greatly if it's Torres who we go after in the summer.

I’m not a fan of Bastoni this season, to me he is the same mold as Lenglet. His tactical awareness is very good and he is obviously very confident and comfortable on the ball (which we definitely need) but this season my opinion of him has changed. He is just too average defensively for me and looks shaky occasionally.

If we’re going to play counter attacking football I just don’t think he will be that great, especially for a big 50 million price tag. I don’t think he would be great in a back 4 either

But let’s see at the end of the season. Inter are still in the Champions League. Maybe he will step up

He's had the same impression one me when watching.

But I think we could get him at a cut price due to his contract scenario so I think he might be worth pursuing based on that. He's still only 23 years old and can still learn a whole lot.

Going to a back four would certainly be a worry. I've seen him in a back four for Italy and he's been a disaster.

Yeah I agree. If we could somehow get him for less than like 30-35 million then sure, but I just wouldn’t spend really big money on him. too many red flags.

I think if we can get Bastoni and Ndicka in for a combined £35-40,000,000. We're laughing. Keep Davies, Dier and Tanganga as depth. Unless a good offer comes in for any of them.

Romero - Bastoni - Ndicka
Porro.....................................................Udogie

Would be quite something. That back five has an average age of just under 23 years old. Goalkeeper behind them who can actually use his feet and we'd be set up pretty well if they can gel.

hes that fucking good i reckon he could still do a job as a bit part player. hopefully he gets into coaching when he is done. one of the greatest footballers ive ever seen and in terms of all round game hes got to be right up there! football purist who could attack and defend, and he was diligent, he never slacked off and saved energy, as elegant as he was on the ball he still done the dog work!

would love him to end up as a coach at spurs, and the fact he was a proper footballer i reckon it would translate into a good manager. absolute purist.

With Conte it's about being good enough more than old enough. Kulu went straight in at 21.

Scott would probably be and loan to a prem side for a season. He's a massive Spurs fan apparently so could see him going for that.
You cannot compare Scott with Kulusevski. Kulu had already proven himself in Seri A and was a Swedish international and Paratici was the one who brought him to Juve.
I am not saying I don't want Scott. Besides, he's more of an attacking CMF (a position Conte is not using right now) - but I guess he can play as a WF too.
