Have you read the article? Nothing he said seems that out of line tbh, he was there watching a young player and bigged him up as a promising talent in an interview, doesn't seem much in it to me. He hardly laid out all of our transfer plans on live TV.

That said, his name does seem to always be linked to some controversy or another throughout his career, so maybe we were just looking for a reason to cut ties. Also, how fucking weird is his career, West Ham to Madrid to Newcastle to Villa to Charlton to Birmingham to us, weird trajectories all round, and there is no fucking way the guy in that picture is 57!

I think he was part of the "Cockney Mafia" at Newcastle. Dennis Wise etc.

Buying:
-A LCB and GK is what are needed most.

Selling:
-If Son is sold, Richy and Danjuma can take his place and minutes.
-Tanganga should be sold on but with a buyback or sell-on in case we want him back.
-One of the RB's probably ought to be sold, though maybe Spence simply goes out on loan again.
-Working to sell on the other deadwood out on loan right now is obviously a continuing priority.

Assuming Stellini stays, I think we can expect to see something like this (in depth chart order from 1st to last choice):

ST - Kane, Richy
RW - Kulu, Danjuma, Richy, Perisic
LW - Richy, Danjuma, Perisic, Sess
LWB - Udogie, Perisic, Sess, Davies
RWB - Emerson, Porro
CM - Bent, Sarr, Skipp, Hoj, Biss
LCB - ???, Davies
CB - Dier, Sanchez
RCB - Romero, Sanchez
GK - ???, Forster

Overall I don't think we need to do a lot of buying. We've got a lot of talent. We could stand to spend well in key areas though like LCB, CB, and GK. Getting in more HG would really help us with the squad rules.

I don’t want to go in to a season with Eric Dier not being the first Centre Back option off the bench, I don’t care if we play a back three or a back four but this is a priority.

I agree with you completely. With Lenglet loan ending soon though I have a feeling the more immediate need will again be a LCB.

Replacing Dier will require signing a really quality CB though- you need to make sure they are good enough to put Dier on the bench no questions asked so there isn't some kind of unsettled pecking order lingering. I don't know if THFC/ENIC/Levy will have the will to do what it takes to make something like that happen in this next window.

Because he’s running the football side at Brighton and things are well run at the Seagulls

He's CEO & Deputy Chairman.

I think you might be looking at the wrong guy if you're primarily concerned with buying, selling and scouting etc.......

..........The chavs also scalped one or two of their football brains too.

We need two elite centre backs if we continue with a three and one left footed one if a new man comes in who plays with a back four.

What makes you think a marketing/corporate/merch guy can take over as DOF?

It's a completely different job.
I suppose it depends on just how much involvement he had in setting up the structure they have, in terms of their overall vision on the pitch and the recruitment structure. Let's be honest, they've uncovered some real gems at Brighton and we're all impressed with both their recruitment and Footballing style.

As a DOF, you'd expect him to oversee all of that so, if he has been instrumental in that set up, I'd say he'd fulfill a DOF role really well.

Just read his wiki and it all just reads like CEO stuff to me; not DOF....... There may be specifics that aren't mentioned of course - if so I'm all ears - but I've read nothing that links him to on-the-pitch matters.

Re: Gems.... See Ashworth link posted above.

That's why I said "if" he's been instrumental. I don't really know, I'm just hypothesising.
