We will have buyers,

You're welcome to make insistent assumptions, but be aware that's all they are......

afew players in the final year of contract helps too

(Notably only one player from the list of FB/WBs you responded to and he's on a whopping £176kpw.)

Shifting players who are levelled-out and/or ageing is never easy.... Esp. to less wealthy leagues post-Covid.

Think you can pretty much cross off LB & RB. Outgoings could change but we're already heading into the summer with...

RB/RWB
- Porro
- Spence
- Emerson

LB/LWB
- Udogie
-  Davies
- Perisic
- Sess
- Reguillon
Fixed it for you!

RB:

- NEW
- Porro
Spence - loan
Emerson - sell

LB:

- NEW
- Udogie
- Davies
- Perisic - free transfer
- Sess - sell
- Reguilon - sell

If Maddison ends up at Newcastle, I wonder if we’d be able to get Gibbs-White for similar money? Been impressed by him recently and think he could do a similar job.
He's a baller alright, but what Forest paid for him was already ridiculous...so adding another 20 mil easy on top, that'd be downright foolish to bring him in. If we gonna spend 60 mil on anybody from now on, it cannot be another Ndombs or Richy.

Worst thing is the club still thinks they can make football decisions without a DOF in place.

Unless there is one already working behind the scenes

Lloris, Dier, Sanchez, Winks, Perisic & Kane are 2024

Didn't say it would be easy to shift out players, but it will be easier with our massive squad, if a player isn't first choice in a team that isn't in European competition, he will be more willing to instruct his agent to find him a new club

I still think there is a number of players it’s hard to call on due to the manager requirements. Remember AVB, Rose looked pants but under Poch was top draw.

Players like Bryan Gil, Spence it’s very hard to say yes or no. Even the like of Lo Celso who Aston Villa appear to want to buy maybe suitable for Slot in a way he just wasn’t for defensive managers like Jose or Conte.

Right now there are players like Lloris, Winks, Sanchez, Tanganga, Ndombele that are all most certain to go but the rest could be unpredictable and we might be surprised by one or two players if Slot of top draw.

I know... I literally just posted a link that said as much.

Easier doesn't amount to much unless one is forgoing everything I've already said.

I’d keep perisic another year, why not? He’s shown his quality. His delivery is arguable the best in our squad.

I’d love to go to city and just offer massive money for Laporte, Gundogen and Philips
I think he's better off higher up the pitch. Never been a defensive player and could certainly be more useful wide midfield or out and out winger. Definitely one to keep around imo.

Talking about it doesn't amount to much either, my speculation is worth as much as yours.

Touche, but history somewhat bears out my point.

Every summer people convince themselves that there will be a queue of suitors for our deadwood; even though they've spent the last 12 months or more judging them to be utter shit.... What's more projecting that many of them will generate 8 figure trf fees.

Yet... The last 3 years:

Jan - 0
Toby - Initially grossly over-reported, but could be as little as 3m. (Notably priced himself out of his own release clause the season(s) before!)
Rose - 0
Gazzaniga - 0
Aurier - 0
Sissoko - 1m
Lamela - 0m (Negligible, given we still had to pay £20m for Gil)
Hart - 1m (Miracle!)
CCV - 5m
Dele - 0
Doherty - 0

The only one of note was Bergwijn who was a quick sell-back of a half decent squad player who had yet to be stained with relative failure..

Truth is there's very little market for these kind of trfs. Players know (esp. in their final years) that they can sit tight, force a loan and not have to suffer a wage-cut and then walk on a free.

If we look at the CB position we're in!

We all want us to sell Dier, Sanchez, Davies, Tanganga, Rodon. Lenglet we will probably let go. That's 6 CB's, and are not gonna happen!!

And depending on what system we will play, with a back-4 we probably need 5 CB's in the squad, a minimum 4! If we play a back-5, we probably need 6 CB's, a minimum 5.

We are of course keeping Romero, and say we sign 2 good CB'S! We will still have to keep 2-3 out of the crop i mentioned above, and that's BAD!

I actually think we need to sign 3 CB's if we want to be competing! If i were DOF i would go all out for Laporte, Ndicka and Guehi!

If we play a back-4 that would be Romero/Guehi for the RCB spot, and Laporte/Ndicka for the LCB spot, that would be quality competition.

I would also look at signing a defensive minded RB, and a defensive minded LB to compete with Porro and Udogie for the fullbacks spots.

So for me we need a bare minimum of:

1 GK
1 RB
1 LB
3 CB's

That's 6 signings, and i haven't even touched midfielders, wingers, or strikers yet! God we're a mess!

Jaynola. As well as hitting the disagree button on my CB posts, why don't you share your thoughts on the CB situation?

Well said.
The club has almost no leverage. Three years to the next World Cup and most of these guys have no future international careers to think of and know that they’re looking at a lesser contract when the current one is up.

McDombele & GLC have been playing that game for the last 2 years already..... Esp. GLC with this cosy little deal his agent and Villareal have cooked up between them.

I am all for a cheeky bid for him :D All it takes is around £150m+

PREMIER LEAGUE giants are on high alert to launch a summer raid on Brazilian superstar Vinicius Jr after he hinted he is ready to quit Spain.
The South American ace became embroiled in a war of words with LaLiga chief Javier Tebas following the racism storm and red card in Real Madrid’s defeat at Valencia.
