I’m still wondering where we are going to get this money for new players. If Porro and Kulusevski are going to take up £70 million and a new keeper say £30 million for arguments sake where is the other £150 million coming from needed to make any sort of improvement in the squad?
It looks like it’ll cost us to get Slot too.
Maybe recoup £50 to £70 million on the deadwood?
I’ve got this horrid feeling the squad won’t look different come August.

Kulusevski/Porro payment would just be a portion of their ultimate cost.. could be 10m Kulusevski, 12.5m Porro.. could be less or more.. but it won't be anything close to 70m going out on those two in the next 6 months. The other side of that is we're probably still making payments on Romero, Reguilon, Richarlison and whoever else going back as far as the Ndombele summer. Nearly all of these deals have staggered payment. If you bring in Raya and say Hincapie for 30m and 50m, you're probably only paying around 25-30% of that this summer.

Transfers aren't paid off in lump sums. they are paid in installments. Porro and Kulu aren't technically part of this summer's budget, or if you do count them then all the figures about "backing Conte" or Jose are wrong. And they aren't costing 70m this window, more like 9-10m installments each this window. I know Romero was counted for about 3 transfer windows but that was dumb as well.

That 150m tranches or wtf they called it was not even close to being used because it was meant for the upfront payments needed for deals.

Reckon we will finally get some money for outgoings as well.

Thing to watch is space on the wage budget. If enough players are removed from it via sales and loans, could easily see 6-7 players in this summer IMO. Maybe more unless the big talk via breifling about clear outs are BS.

Kim Min-Jae used the Turkish league as a stepping stone too (though only for one season). Can't say I know anything about this lad but snapping up young talent before their profile explodes should be our MO.

I wouldn't compare Nelsson with Kim just because they both are using Turkey as a stepping stone. Using Turkey as a stepping stone rarely works out. Yes, it worked out for Ribery and Kim and Sørloth (and I am sure a few others)....but not for Dele and several others...
If Spurs are looking for a CB starter for next season I rather have Spurs look for better options than Nelsson (unless he's done some exceptional development at Galatasaray). He's turning 25 and still not a quality CB (by EPL standards).

I thought that Porro and deki had to be paid now. That makes it easier then. I think the key is getting as much for the deadwood as possible. Lo Celso and Ndombele could get us a few quid but the likes of Rodon,Reguilon,Sanchez will get us fuck all.

Installments. Transfer are usually made in payments over year not lump sum.

It also means that there are outstanding installments to be paid from prior years. Our transfer liabilities were (close to?) the highest in the EPL according to the last chart I saw (Swiss Ramble). It seemed as if we had been kicking the can. I don’t expect a large spend this summer although I would love to be proven wrong.

Absolutely not..... We agreed a higher price (and sacrificed some of Edwards sell-on) to ensure we the deal on our desired payment terms.

It's standard for most trfs tbh........

Xm spend in a window rarely means that amount in cash.... It's just a commitment to spend Xm.

By your reckoning (at the top end), we need to 'spend' 250m less 70m.......i.e 180m.

That's roughly what we 'spent' this season. It's not unfathomable (especially as on the above principal, Porro was a 22/23 deal and thus needn't be counted twice... Meaning 140m-ish more to rustle up).

Yet de Vrij is no longer a starter even with Skriniar out (de Vrij did not play in any of the CL semis)
Gaya has done well in EPL while Bijlow is unproven in the EPL, so to say it's not a close race makes no sense. Kepa was excellent in La Liga but not in the EPL. But I would not be against signing Bijlow...
Schuur is a good CB but he wouldn't be top my wish list.
Maybe youse need to do some research on Bijlow...

Potentially all we need is one elite CB who complements Romero, a cheap(ish) backup CB and a keeper.

CB: Romero, new CB, Davies, new backup, Emerson as additional backup
LB: Davies, Perisic, Udogie (Reguilon?)
RB: Porro, Emerson, Spence
CM: Benta, Bissouma, PEH, Skipp, (Lo Celso? Kulu?, Sarr - if he's not out on loan)
Wings: Rich, Son, Gil, Kulu
ST: Kane, Rich

If things work out for us, that's potentially a very capable team.
