No. What’s more fundamental is we keep him next season and lose an 80m fee, it gives us a chance of CL (yields more than 80M) and sets up the new manager for a good start
The absolute drama around the club that Kane is running down his contract and the constant speculation about who he is joining next summer will ruin next season for everyone and make it difficult to do well as a team and club. You really want to go through the whole Campbell saga again? :contefacepalm2:

I wasn't that long ago that Spurs fans were raving about the following Leicester players and blaming Spurs for not having had the foresight to buy them...

Schmeichel, Thomas, Evans, Pereira, Ndidi, Tielemans, Praet, Maddison, Barnes

I would be considering the following players from the 3 relegated teams (I don't consider all of them as starters):

Soton
Bazunu
Bella-kotchap
Salisu
Lavia
Dibling

Leeds
Meslier
Struijk
Gnonto
Harrison

Leicester
Maddison
Barnes

Lavia & Barnes would be top of the wish list.

If true then £26m is a bargain for Neves. Of course, he would never choose Spurs over Barca anyway...

Barcelona 'have agreed a £26m deal to sign Wolves captain Ruben Neves'... with the Portuguese midfielder 'set to seal his move to the Spanish giants in the coming days'

  • Barcelona are closing in on the signing of midfielder Ruben Neves from Wolves
  • An agreement has been reached between all parties over a £26million deal
  • However, Barcelona boss Xavi reportedly has some reservations about Neves

Don't Barca still need to sell to buy?

That football club makes no sense.

They still have Gavi who they can't sign and Kessie who they can't shift? So adding Neves?

LOL

I don’t really care if he bags 30 goals.

A few in there that may be at the top of the wish list, unfortunately, look like Newcastle would be a more attractive option.

Maddison, Barnes, Lavia, B-K...

They've also got the dough.

1) You are now getting mixed up two things - it would not be "sets up new manager for a good start" but instead it would mean that new manager would have one brilliant player who he has to play pretty much 100% of the time and who will leave after first season. Kane is so central in the way he plays, having him vs not having him changes the way we play. So basically we would prolong our current misery for one more year and then start again from scratch in 1 years time. Why would we do that?
2) Participation in CL DOES NOT yield more than 80 mil in fact. Depending on specific details is is roughly speaking 50-60 mil.
3) But the previous point is moot anyway, because if Kane on his own would be enough to drag us to CL then... well... why did we finish in 8th position this year around? Or do you expect him to score 60 goals next season? Which I find quite unlikely to be honest.

Really no point of dragging it all on. Let him go, get the money, find out if anyone would be willing to buy Son for decent money as well. Get in a new coach and go for fresh start.

Saints probably make a good fist of staying up this season had they salvaged the Hassenhutl situation and kept him in the job. Cb health and midfield protection also killed them. Personally think Salisu is pretty good, wouldn't be against bringing in him if he was the seen as a backup or rotation player replacing Sanchez. . same with Bella Kotchap, but he there's durability concerns over them both and don't think either are good enough to be the #1 cb signing that changes our fortune next season. Alvarez an exciting player and clubs should be looking at him. Lavia obviously good. Bazunu unfortunately probably the player most culpable for their relegation, talented but avoid for now.

Think Gnonto is quality, but apparently happy to stay with Leeds another season. No interest in any other Leeds player. Barnes and Maddison are good but I'm convinced they'd ultimately be middling signings and we'll fail to bridge the gap with players like that. Maddison has all the quality you'd want in a player, but for any team to be successful on a weekly basis now you cannot have passengers out of possession and Maddison is exactly that. Barnes is a good goalscorer but technically woeful at lots of things. Neither would be bad signings in our quest to be the 4th or 5th best team in England.

Alex Scott looks talented, I'd hope we have his next few years of loans planned if we're to buy him because he doesn't look ready for many minutes in a top 4-6-8 PL side

Dele looked even less ready.

He's a good distance further ahead than Dele was when he arrived and then he had that pre-season.

Maybe, but Dele was a physical unit and had scored 16 goals in a season at 18yo. I don't mean to disparage Scott, he's a talented player, but watching him for England underage and (admittedly, just two) Bristol games, I don't really see a player who'd get minutes for us next season, especially without Conference League
