Willing to bet it won’t be Tapsoba. As soon as Maddison got done, that was the big splash of the window.

But VdV, Tosin, Lenglet, Romero makes a lot of sense.

Could see Tosin keeping Romero out the team if he goes to far on Argentina train

Tosin won't... Shouldn't be real competition for Romero, but you're right, it should at least help to keep him focused.

Prof on Coys re Tapsoba and Vdv:

Much movement took place over the weekend. We'd like both. Whether we can get both is another question. No point in delaying option 2 while we're waiting to see if the price for option 1 can be brought down to our ceiling. If it can, we'll be thrilled. If not, we move on to option 3. As I've posted before, for many positions identified as needs Ange believes (rightly or wrongly) that he can coach up options 2-4 or 2-5 to be as good as option 1. Whether the results match that level of confidence remains to be seen.

As I'm hearing it tbh. Tapsoba is the primary but they aren't really shifting on the fee as yet.

Please relax. Another center back will be added after this. We are working in agreement with AP on his priority signings. So refresh to have a manager who is working with you, and not throwing dummies out the pram.

CB won't drag on.

Club completely understand the importance of defensive reinforcement/s being on the plane.

I imagine we will see significant progress on a CB this coming week.

Are you posting that for it's comedy value?

Watched three games the last week, haven't seen anything of him beyond that really. Rapid, cleans up situations well. Zero concerns about him in possession, he's quality at passing and carrying. Tbh, he looks very high level in that regard. Just watching him I'd imagine he'd be our best LB. This and the pace are exciting. Not really dominant in the air and yet to see that his defensive instincts are of the highest level, but obviously withholding judgement on the latter having not seen a huge amount and him just turning 22. Looks well worth 30m to me tbh, but he really needs to learn how to position his 6'4 frame in such a way that he can nod away the odd corner kick.
I like the prospect of vdv over tapsoba for the lb potential. Udogie is still an unknown quantity, and lb seems a weak area in general. Having him as an option tactically and in terms of depth would be great.

to give the manager time getting team to play his way I'm glad we are not in EL or ECL, as that gives us weeks free to train
But these young players we are looking at getting in will need match time and without EL orECL we need to arrange midweek friendlys for them
really should never have done away with football combination ( a league where those not playing saturdays got a runout)

I don't get why though..

Vicario 16m
Maddison 40m
Van der ven 30m

with Winks going out 10m

so 76m net

then Tasoba at what? 40m?

116m net

with around 10 players still to sell. It's extremely doable.

edit
ok forgetting the Kulusevski and Porro deals which makes it 181m net.

Tapsoba has 3 years on his contract, they will be asking north of 50m.

We've never done x2 40-50m players in one window have we?

We didn't last summer.

Club's transfer model also has one big link every window that doesn't get done. To me they come off as marketing links more than serious links.

Probably Tapsoba goes for 50m to Liverpool later in the window.

That is the difference between FSG and ENIC.

Nice player, will be against England u21s tomorrow evening at 5 o'clock. Year or two away from this transfer making sense, one to watch out for if he keeps improving though. Has a really dogged, determined attitude for a creative midfield type.

Has buy and loan style like Udogie written all over it.

they were probably looking at Guler that way but bigger fish came in.

They will do at least one player like that this window imo.

There are but there are just as many happy clappy nutcases who like to portray any signing as a great bit of business, look at his stats, he’s got a great expected assist rate or some other bollocks.

Each to their own.
Not surprising as we always over rate incomings. All 4 are great apparently.
Then shocked when they are not & turn very miserable & angry towards these players & the coach.

He's ready. Just not as far along in his development like Tapsoba is.

It's a shame if we sign him, he'd be labelled by some as "the cheaper option" like Vic Flair was.

The 'fans' who do this aren't worth listening to, to be fair. A lack of knowledge coupled with an over-riding hatred of all things Levy makes their opinions worthless (and block worthy, which I am now doing).

Chelsea have held talks with Southampton over a potential deal for their former right-back Tino Livramento, 20. Southampton value the England Under-21s defender, who is also being chased by Newcastle, at £38m. (Mail)

Liverpool have moved ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign Belgium midfielder Romeo Lavia and are preparing an opening offer for the 19-year-old, who Southampton have valued at £50m. (Talksport)

Throw in JWP & it’s surprising the saints haven’t been raided. Usually by Liverpool.
