It's the 'perceived bad moments' again
The thing that makes me chuckle are comments like 'Fans are fickle. If the football is good again, the fans will be happy', like it's a winning comment. We're human beings. Of course if something goes well it makes us happier. But that's not being fickle. Fickle would be if fans suddenly started singing 'We love you, Levy, we do' if we get fourth place. Does anyone really believe that's happening?
If a submarine sinks to the bottom of the ocean, people are going to be happy if it's rescued. The bigger question is: why was the submarine allowed to sink in the first place causing distress. Some of us - well, now many of us - know that it's because corners were cut with its construction and the wrong captains were given the wrong crews. And who is ultimately to blame? The chairman.
Is it any wonder then that a large number of fans and media feel that the chairman is incompetent when it comes to footballing matters? Is it surprising when they suspect that the same corners are currently being cut?*
The stadium was, for quite some time, Levy's veil. He was able to hide behind it. No longer.
I hope Ange lives up to the hype. I hope the squad we're assembling gives opponents hell and reunites the fanbase. But even if it does and we go on a great run, the fans (and the media) are now wise to Levy's ways. While he's in charge, he will be forever under the microscope thanks to the terrible decisions he's made, and every wrong turn will likely be met with 'Levy out' chants. And if any of you genuinely don't think those chip away at the man, you have no grasp of human nature. We may not be able to force him out but we can make his stay as uncomfortable as possible whenever necessary.
For what it's worth, I'm happy to see that a restructuring is taking place and that we're aiming to get back to front-foot attacking football. Right now, I'm quite excited and cautiously optimistic.
I'll happily position a hen with a robotic arseclunge to fire eggs all over my face if Levy oversees an effective, fighting football club and he maintains the right staff to keep it constantly striving for success year after year hereon out.
We'll see ...

It's all about being entrenched in a position and too proud to admit you are wrong.
As evidence for our side of this (I hate that term really but there is no denying the fanbase is polarized so we may as well embrace it) we can point to a string of managers, directors of football, lack of trophies, and a continued lack of ambition in every transfer window. That's our case and its crystal clear and undisputed.
Their case isn't really clear other than putting kisses on every post and calling us on spelling.
They can argue the stadium and facilities are world class, but who is disputing that? I'm certainly not.
They got nothing and they know it.
Hence how easily triggered they all are to a man and how quickly they resort to putting a kiss on your posts. They also like to swarm all over somebody in a bullying way, but luckily I'll take the fucking lot of them in with one arm.

This. Whilst I’m not a “just pay the money” person, we need a couple of centre backs in this week so they can go on tour. The reluctance to push on from the owners has always held us back. We need to get on with it.

As for our fanbase, its been battered into submission, There is so much more apathy than a desire to actually work for change.
What will end up happening is people will just vote with their feet rather than protest.
And I know a whole lot of people who aren't renewing.
This is the last chance window for Levy, he needs to show serious ambition now. He made a good start with the deals he got over the line and the money we paid but I just get the same old feeling that its the bare fucking minimum to give the fans the illusion of ambition.

As I've had several posters from the Levy appreciation society have a good laugh at me because of my spelling I feel I need to divulge something - I suffer with a mild form of dyslexia.
These posters are trying to convey that I'm stupid because of this. As a company director I feel insulted and victimised and in the future will post less.
I post on the shitter most of the time or on the train, basically whenever I get five spare minutes when I should be working. and I'm damned if I'm bothered about my spelling or grammar or running it through a spell checker. I get my point across and couldn't give a fuck if I typo.
People that pull people on typo's are cunts. Trying to claim they have the intellectual high ground because they got zero other ammunition to work with.

Please refer back to your own comment above regarding being 'entrenched in a position'. I expect it is for that reason that you can't see / understand the counter-arguments, all of which have been posted here many, many times.
I tried a few months ago to position the two schools of thought in one post as objectively as I could, and offered to amend it if either side thought THIER SIDE was not being explained appropriately (obviously you can't ask for the "other side's" argument to be changed at your behest, as that's their argument). I found it rather telling that the disagrees I received were from the ENIC OUT side, many of whom wanted the other side's arguments changed. (!)
The reality is, different people see things in different ways - people have different perceptions of relative success and failure, different expectations, different views on what causes each success / failure, different opinions on other people's obligations to spend money owned by them or by the asset they own / work for etc. To summarise very crudely my own position, the improvement in our average league position over the last 20 years, particularly despite the increase in doped teams, plus many near-misses in cups, demonstrates improvement over that period overall (whilst of course having many misgivings about ENIC / Levy too, especially in the last 5 years). (If you want a more detailed rationale, I'd be happy to find and link that post from a few months ago).
For me, the only people who can possibly have any credibility in this argument are those (on both sides) who accept that those on 'the other side' do have some valid points, and are not 'gooners', 'Levybots', 'non-supporters', 'delusional', or any other other narrow-minded insult that simply identifies the poster's own inability to understand that other people can have different yet legitimate opinions to their own. (Caveat: that said, I do recognise that 'delusional' may be borderline appropriate for instances where people - again on either side - simply post lies, which does happen regularly, particularly regarding transfer fees / wages).
