Not really. Put yourself in the situation of both of the selling clubs. They obviously want to sell, their eyes are lit up that it's a PL Club that's after their player (the player will also be keen because it means they massively improve their personal salary - maybe it flushes out a player really keen on joining us, isn't it better to want a player that has the enthusiasm to make a difference here, or would we prefer a Perisec picking up the last big paycheck of his career who doesn't appear be want to be here at all?) so they know they can obtain the PL tax and that the money is there. BUT both the selling clubs know that the buying club (Spurs) can and are willing to pull the trigger on one of two players, they know that it's not bullshit either as both players are similarly profiled. Therefore they only have a 50% chance of cashing in on their player. Whilst it might not mean affect the valuation it lends itself to no fucking around by Club and agent with silly terms and small print guff, but most importantly it motivates the seller.

Should we opt to sign both it doesn't change that either as we appear to be advancing both deals close to a point of accord making that move possible. Should this be about signing just one then it won't change anything either.

Good sensible negotiating tactics by Spurs

Not to be forgotten is that Paratici was apparently 'famous' for negotiating with multiple players at any one time, but to be honest this is common in the commercial world - a tender process is an open and transparent process where multiple suppliers put forward their best prices/services in response to a specification put to all the suppliers at the same time

We would get run all over with maddison and ndombele as two of our three
Not if we have the ball. But I do get your point. I wouldn't go with that personally.

from the original point I think we have enough numbers still if we sell PEH for now. We should be able to find a short term solution for Bentancurs injury within the squad considering the amount of numbers we have in CM. If Sarr and others aren't ready to step up or be given a few games then what's the point they might aswell not be here.

100%. Much rather see Devine cover CM than endure PEH hanging around, stinking the place out

If he isn't good enough to step in for few games he might aswell go on loan or we switch it up to maybe a 3 of

Maddison. Bissouma.
Skipp
Or maybe.

Maddison. Ndombele.
Bissouma
I think the only way our younger players are going to improve is if they get exposure and ample game time.

I don't expect much more incomings after we get a couple of centre backs but if PEH leaves and Skipp or Sarr go on loan I would imagine we bring someone in like Maxence Caqueret

Ndombele does not have the work rate necessary to play alongside Maddison, as Skipp would be overrun by most PL clubs as the only hard working CM.

Bissouma does and that's why a Bissouma/Maddison/Skipp CM would work.

Might be able to get away with Sarr in place of Bissouma (remember Sarr/Skipp did well against AC Milan) as Sarr is quite industrious, although he's not naturally great defensively - but Sarr would likely be 'found out' if he played that role regularly. . Same argument with the inexperienced Devine who would probably be far better in the attacking role but is very industrious and probably could do the Biussouma role like Sarr. on a 'one off basis'

Yeah, they are basically putting both teams in competition against each other....if one asks for too much they'll get nothing and miss their chance of selling a player for bigger money than they'd get anywhere else...

By the same measure Spurs could be trying to pull a fast one and getting both at a cut price, therefore it's not in their interest to announce a signing ...

On a tangent here but I've dealt with supermarket chains and they set up "auctions" for suppliers. They basically set a maximum price and give the suppliers 30 minutes to undercut the fuck out of each other...the losers get fuck all and the winners get to work out how the fuck they're going to make any money at all...

Short term until November , we’d be out of the top 4 race before Christmas.

meh.
think he has alot of the tools to be a top CB, concentration and positioning/reading of the game let him down. which i feel alot is down to his confidence and match sharpness being destroyed.

good luck to him
We paid Ajax £42million for him, much more than we’re paying for VDV 6 years later. In his first year he really played pretty good but since then he has no confidence whatsoever.

The loan was just a trick to screw PSG over, and even if it wasn't, he was actually very good when Jose first arrived from November to February. It's after Covid when it all went downhill.
Lo Celso looked good for maybe 4-6 games under Mourhino - but only in terms of industry (running round) but he didn't score, didn't get an assist and not sure he got a shot on target either so failed as an AM.

Couldn't tackle or defend so not any form of defensive midfielder either. A 'powder puff' flattering to decieve at best
