Lo Celso looked good for maybe 4-6 games under Mourhino - but only in terms of industry (running round) but he didn't score, didn't get an assist and not sure he got a shot on target either so failed as an AM.

Couldn't tackle or defend so not any form of defensive midfielder either. A 'powder puff' flattering to decieve at best
I remember him having a really good game at Southampton and him scoring in Europe but then struggle after that.

This one is the same as the Raya/Vicario situation. Some at the top end preferring VDV, others Tapsoba But pretty much everyone unanimous that either would be a solid signing and a good fit for how we are looking to play moving forward. I've not heard anything in the last 24 hours or so, so I don't know how close it is, but we were 100% talking to Tapsoba's people over the weekend as well. I was told quite matter of factly that we wouldn't be getting both, and we were looking at either/or plus a homegrown option with one eye on the future, so lets see how it pans out. If we've found a different HG option for elsewhere perhaps Tapsoba also now is possible. My guy was convinced it wouldn't be both though.
This means we're getting both right?

Ndombele does not have the work rate necessary to play alongside Maddison, as Skipp would be overrun by most PL clubs as the only hard working CM.

Bissouma does and that's why a Bissouma/Maddison/Skipp CM would work.

Might be able to get away with Sarr in place of Bissouma (remember Sarr/Skipp did well against AC Milan) as Sarr is quite industrious, although he's not naturally great defensively - but Sarr would likely be 'found out' if he played that role regularly. . Same argument with the inexperienced Devine who would probably be far better in the attacking role but is very industrious and probably could do the Biussouma role like Sarr. on a 'one off basis'
I just think that we have enough numbers to cope with bentancur injury if PEH is sold. Also what's the point in having the likes of Sarr Gil and an academy if they can't be used to plug holes here and there.

Obviously I'm sure Ange will make a decision if he feels they really can't step up and need to replace

I think he'll be more a attacking no.8 for us if he is given minutes
If he isn't good enough to step in for few games he might aswell go on loan or we switch it up to maybe a 3 of

Maddison. Bissouma.
Skipp
Or maybe.

Maddison. Ndombele.
Bissouma
I think the only way our younger players are going to improve is if they get exposure and ample game time.

I don't expect much more incomings after we get a couple of centre backs but if PEH leaves and Skipp or Sarr go on loan I would imagine we bring someone in like Maxence Caqueret
Skipp has done his loan probation, won’t go again.

does hojberg need replacing? only domestic football next year. sarr probably a better fit than him anyway in a system that requires midfield to play a bit. so he would of been 5th choice, instead of him being 5th its skipp...might as well invest that money into the backline. unlikely we will get a CM whos going to get in front of bissouma, bent or maddison for 40m

With Bentancur probably out until November and not sure how he will be when he first returns, that leaves us with Bissouma and Skipp as the defensive/industrious mainstays with Sarr probably being used as sub until he proves himself (other than playing with Skipp v AC Milan when both did well) Sarr has played very little for Spurs so I'm cautious about his ability as a regular.

So one injury and we could be be in trouble - hence I think we need a replacement (or maybe loan of experienced player) unless Craig (sub in last game of season) is also judged to be ready to play a part in first team football (ie we have both Sarr and Craig as options). The likes of Maddison and Kulusevski can play as part of a CM3 but won't do too much for defensive solidarity.

id say gil could also play as a CM if needed, natural footballers can play anywhere across the middle. imo sarr is a far better footballer than skip, hes proved that from the minutes hes got. skipp is ok, sarr has shown he has the ability to be a force for us.
