Sanchez was excellent at that tournament as were a number of our players, let’s not do revisionist history here.

Don't think Dier is going anywhere this season. I'll be extremely surprised. Im curious to know if we'll buy a CB. Hope we don't add Lenglett to the mix or we'll be back to where we were.

And if Levy Lovers want to ask where this comes from;

I can't see how we'll have a payed per view documentary of someone we are about to let go.

zero chance we bid anything like 100m

Poor argument. Did we want him now or in January?

If you going to try to make a point at least let it have bearing on current circumstances. Paul Pogba was an 90 million play, now they battling to get 12 million. Ndombele was a 50 million player, now his not even worth 20 million.

We needed a Good keeper now, not January. You argument has absolutely zero merit.
The argument is just to demonstrate that values fluctuate according to parameters other than ability. Will Raya be less of a keeper in January as his price would have dropped? Rhetorical.

In Vicario’s case he is also in the last year of a contract, plays for a team with poorer finances than Brentford (who don’t have to sell because of finances ) and isn’t homegrown.
Both Inter and Juve were interested in Vicario — Inter seemingly concrete whereas no one is interested in Raya as of now.
If you want to feel down about our business and a keeper who you‘ve never seen play but whom GK experts in Italy rate highly then don’t let me stop you.

Mitrovic
Vlahovic
Jonathan David

These names are all making me shudder. They really aren’t that much better, if better at all, to justify the expense.

In our ranks, We have a golden boot winner and a player who we’ve invested a huge amount in and has a 1 in 2 record for his country playing as a 9. Let’s put it to the test in a front foot team.

They both had bad seasons, but they also both aren’t wingers anymore IMO.
People just need to accept that when Kane leaves/retires. We are with 99% certainty going to end up with a worse striker. Because Kane is once in a generation in how complete a attacking player that he is. You'll have to search high and low for a player that does everything that he does to the same extent.

If we are smart we will retool how the attacking line works rather than trying to find one individual to slot into a Harry Kane shaped hole.

How can we ever replace Archibald? Clive Allen. How can we replace Allen? Lineker. How can we ever replace Lineker? Sheringham, Klinsmann. How can we ever replace Sheringham? OK, that took a while… but then Keane, Defoe, Berbatov, Crouch/Van Der Vaart then Bale, then Kane.

Every irreplaceable player gets replaced.

They do. Because the team as a whole changes with time obviously.

But I guess with the way social media and the internet works now. And people seemingly having less patience in general it seems, fans want an instant replacement. A like for like.

The centre back issue is doing my tits in. We go on tour with players that aren’t going to start the season. This should’ve been sorted but once again we are fucking about. This is the time where Ange is trying to get players to buy into what he wants and we might have Rodon or Dier playing next to Romero. Fuck my life

Are we allergic to midfield players with guile?
Yeah, we will be relying a lot on Maddison.

If he's not available or in good form then it's to Tanguy. But who knows if he makes the cut to be in the squad.

You are then left with another season like last year where there is no creativity in midfield.

I'm going to wait and see how we setup in the pre season games, but I sense at the moment we are going for your typical British good engine type midfielders but don't necessarily have top quality with the ball.
