Nope. From the banning thread.

I think he’s an arrogant, toxic cunt as much as the next guy but we’ve made our peace. If I have a point of disagreement I’ll tell him what it is (and we do regularly) but I’ve never foul voted him.

We thrashed things out like adults in the end. Like me and Bazali Bazali .

:dierpochhug:

Was it the Bournemouth game he went off injured and Sanchez came in and got abused by our own fans? The difference in performance was night and day, a position we can upgrade in for £10m ish would have been good business
There’s absolutely no need to pay Barca 10m.
They are still in financial difficulty and struggling with La Liga’s wage cap. They still need to reduce their wages. I believe they’re in litigation and trying to get relief through the courts.
Lenglet has no other suitors and no club outside England can afford (or will take on) half his current wage. We can afford to wait until the end of the window.

He just said what any manager in his position would say. WTF would he say anything else?

Again, it was his first press conference. He'd seen some of the players train for a week and some not train at all. It'd be silly to imply he knew what his squad would look like sooner.

I'll never understand why some people think managers are using press conferences to send out coded messages, particularly about transfers. They aren't obligated to give any information away, there's no reason to think they would.

It's also fairly reasonable to believe he didn't expect to have the entire squad locked down after 2 weeks.

Most of the seniors only came back from holiday this week.

It was far from a coded comment.....

Except you’ve no insight as to what processes they’re following at Spurs or how they may have changed from pre- to post-Parataci.
Which is why I also said that my perception is based on their actions rather than a knowledge of the inner workings. I can go by what I see and what I see is that we don’t do contingency and seemingly we don’t do priority management.

We absolutely 100% don’t do continuity - there isn’t a fan on this site that can argue we do, that’s why we have 10 full backs at the club.

Some things are just transparent

You can call who you like mush, but Tarkowski/ Coady/Keane outperformed our mob last season - Kilman and Lenglet are an upgrade on Sanchez and Dier - no mistake. Furthermore, both are Prem experienced.

Project all you want though

It's not projection; your comments just reek of insincere hyperbole.

The fact is Lenglet played way more than Sanchez - and he was shit in doing so - so what the fuck you even talking about? .......If you genuinely think the addition of one of the other 4 you list here (to the ranks of Romero, Lenglet + 1) in turn knocks 20 odd goals from our conceeded tally from last season then you're a poor judge of this game.

I am frustrated because as someone who has a strong background in management, process, procedure and strategising I can clearly see the failings that are happening and like I’ve said it boils down to either poor planning, poor advise or good advise not being listened to - and it’s rife in the business world and sadly at Spurs
The thing is you're dealing with people here, not widgets. Operations management principles don't really apply the way you think they do.

What momentum wave? We finished 8th and we're in rebuild mode.

And yeah, we really messed up addressing only 2 of our 3 needs with almost 2 months of the transfer window to go.
I meant riding the momentum wave the Gooners did last season with their fast start.

We’ve failed to address our biggest failing. Only 5 sides scored more than us, only 5 conceded more than us - even Dave down the line can work out we might be a bit weak defensively so should probably address that first.

2 months to go, but 3 days until our first friendly - wouldn’t it have been nice to start building a CB relationship straight away? Instead we will be starting a pair that no one wants to see playing in the Prem next season - a wasted opportunity

We're all disappointed we haven't got a centre back by the time we've flown out. It is what it is.

We can just hope we press on over the next few weeks and at least get one in by the time we're back ready to be involved against both Shakhtar and Barcelona.

I think luckily for us, centre back is probably the easiest position for a new player to come in and hit the ground running in this system
. As opposed say a full back who needs to adapt to playing different to what they're likely used to.

I have no idea if this is correct but what I do know is that the best teams have the strongest, settled, most organised defenses. We all love Ange's attacking principles but no matter how well we play or how many chances we create if we don't have a strong defence we will inevitability concede a lot of goals and the pressure will pile on very quickly. We are in a very delicate position where if we struggle at the start of the season then the crowd will turn, maybe not against Ange, but if Levy starts receiving abuse you know he will sacrifice the manager before he faces up to his own failures.

I think by now we should have signed at least one centre back to partner Romero. We would have 4 weeks to organise a back four with a new goalkeeper and a new protective number 6. This base of the team has to be right and cohesive with each other as quickly as possible because atm I wouldn't count too much on the players ahead of them contributing too much to helping out with the defensive aspects, they too need time to adjust to what Ange is demanding from a pressing pov.

Let's say we start against Brentford and Man U with a back line of

Vicario
Emerson Romero (new cb) Udogie
Bissouma
as you can see only Romero and Emerson truly know each other. Biss will be new to this role under Ange, Udogie has rarely played as a regular left back and is new to this team and league, Vicario the same, and the new cb if he comes in before the start of the season has to quickly adapt somehow too.

We seem to have identified Tapsoba and VdV as candidates to partner Romero. That's good, we did it early, apparently we've spoken to the players, their agents, both are keen to come here. So why the failure to complete the signing of one of them. Little or no competition for either signing, the prices seem within our range and capabilities, it just seems very odd that everything regarding a new centre back signing has ground to a halt and gone silent.

We shall see

Have you seriously implied that you've been a major cog in mergers and acquisitions, and followed that up by suggesting that negotiations are a waste of time?

:pochshock:
No I haven’t, but every negotiation has boundaries and deadlines that should be immovable - it’s not about emotion.

It’s a bit like Poker, your hand may look great but if you can’t win with it then you fold and wait for the next opportunity.

The notion that only Tapsoba or VDV will do is mental - if there is no dice with those deals then whatever the reason then move on. A priority boundary for Spurs this summer should have been time - I.e how quickly we could conclude a deal, however we seem to put no truck in that which is an error

Yes it would have been nice.... But panicking and pissing the window away on shite will get us nowhere.

That's just fast-tracking us to even more dead wood.
