But they've been a part of the transfer threads for as long as I can remember. We'd have very little to discuss if they were stopped.

Your assessment seems pretty balanced.
I’ve watched Tapsoba a couple times in Europe and I think he’s a good way better than what we have. The stats back that up.
VDV is very well rated/marketed but has 1 year of high level football. If they like him then fair play but he’s likely making mistakes in year 1 at least.
The CB that would come with more certainty are also outside Levy’s price range

I was only ever disputing this notion of "top"....... (To me you'd be talking top 10 in the world, top 15, 20 maybe at a push.)
.......And the notion that any "top" player would be particularly enamored by our current position.
