It’s a tough one on VDV as I can see it from two perspectives. On one hand he’s talented, tall, rapid, good on the ball and at £30m on paper it looks a good deal. On the other hand though, he’s very inexperienced, completing 1 season for a rubbish Dutch side then had 1 season in Germany and now Wolfsburg are asking £30m for a player they paid £3m for a year ago. We all hope he’s a success but if he flops his value is going to crash, leaving us with a deficit we can’t recoup.

Every transfer is a risk. I assume they want him but are keeping their options open before pulling the trigger.

I agree but this a player with a minimal CV. His only accomplishment/experience is looking good for ‘1’ season Germany. I would class him as a high risk signing, especially at CB and even more so if he’s viewed as our first choice LCB.

Spence has a very odd way of receiving the ball and then doing something with it. Too much going on there, slow, very unnatural
I really hate that whole "receive the ball, faff around looking like you're doing something for a few moments, end up turning round and passing directly back to where it came from" move...

Seems like we have become experts at it over recent years though.
