Yeah 5 out of 10 window so far.

Only my opinion, but I'll go and take my spot in front of the wall, waiting for the firing squad.
3 out of 10.

This squad is still shipping beaucoup goals next season, if we managed to concede so many goals playing Conte ball last season I'm not holding out hope unless we sign 2 CB's. That was like the minimum requirement start of this window.

People seem to have forgotten just how bad our defence was last year.

The five goals at Newcastle in 20 mins all forgotten already.

Time is ticking we need CB' this week, no excuses. We can't afford to be entering the season with this squad.

What is there left to be talking about after a month?

Are Germans weather mentioners? That's about 90% of small talk right there.
Presumably this will be the last deal of the transfer window because all clubs have had the same amount of time to determine their targets and, after all, what is there for anyone to negotiate at this point?
Don’t know what the deadline day fuss is over.

A less than ideal situation is also known as « reality ». All clubs experience this. Last year our signings were in unusually early and…

So yes, the melting is unwarranted. What we need is talented players to come in and play. I don’t know what negative effects you think will flow from this?

The tour is a good opportunity to build team togetherness and learn what the coach wants, no doubt. But it’s not some fatal blow to our season. Whichever young defender comes in will need time to adjust to the country and the league regardless of when they come. By that time, no one will remember if they came two weeks earlier or later.

This panic and grand claims of « inexcusable » inaction is ridiculously over the top. What matters is that we get the right players in with the right profile.

That’s an open question and I’m sure when the players return from flying around the world, we’ll have a good centreback signed. And if that happens we should all be happy and stop the overly negative moaning.

I guarantee no one will be saying in November
that things would be so much better if our centrebacks arrived two weeks earlier.
The context that matter is that the CB search has been an ongoing struggle for about 4 years at this point. We have repeatedly pulled this same stunt until ultimately settling for lesser options like Rodon and Lenglet.

So we should have come into this transfer window with a clear idea of who we want and the alternatives, and got a deal done asap. Among the big clubs in the PL, we are in an uniquely bad position the requires that level of extra effort.

Now it's hard for us to trust that Levy will have it sorted in a timely manner, hence the nerves from some quarters. I'm sure you'll note that I and others praised levy for getting the other tranfers done quickly, so it's not just being constantly negative.

As for not being on the plane. As I explained in an earlier post, the club has A LOT of other shit to do to get it from the horror show of last season to a proper team this season. Things like selling Winks or Sanchez can go on the back burner, but preparations for next season can't.

Consider the fact that Ndombele, Bissouma, Porro, and Spence are practically new players, and Vicario, Maddison, Solomon and Udogie are actually new players. With a new CB, that's essentially 9 new players in the squad for next season.

Ange has to transition us from years of defensive football culminating in total disarray, and to an attacking side while bringing together that many new players. It's not easy, look at chavski last season.

So with all that in mind, it's really inexcusable that this position hasn't been sorted.

I get it. There’s a lot of anxiety in some parts of the fanbase which has been caused by years of poor football and mediocre results. That anxiety needs a concrete hook to hang on and right now that is the signing of a centreback.

A more positive outlook is also reasonable. 8 of the 9 new players you mention are already with the squad working. We’re selecting the new centreback to be comfortable on the ball and with significant physical attributes. We’ve been linked with some great young defenders who should be ready to play from day 1 but also come with significant room for improvement. That’s a different feel to the chase of Bastoni last year which always felt unrealistic. Recruitment has been smart and data-driven so far. I have confidence we’ll bring in better players.

And just as I don’t give levy much credit for the signings that have gone well so far, I won’t give him much credit if the centreback search succeeds or fails.

Is it bad to wake up at 5am and now want a burger at 5:14am?

I’d hope VDV is a little more mature than the whining 60 year old Spurs “fans” on this forum
So we expect the player to be mature but what about the club?

We could have got VDV in probably couple weeks ago. He could of been on the tour.

Then work on Tapsoba, instead of playing them against eachother. apparently the club wanted 2 centre backs.

FYI... I'm not 60 but your whining about whining 60 year old Spurs "fans" on this forum.

I think the more worrying thing is the constant links to Nelson and Joachim Anderson the last couple of days - we’re clearly no closer to VDV or Tapsoba. If that is the case then I once again have to ask what it is that the transfer team do all year? The CB should have been the first purchase.
