RE: Phillips

As long as the man upstairs doesn't recklessly chop and change strategy like he has done over the last few years then these sort of signings should flourish and the pathway to the first team should be relatively easy for him. I'm honestly sick to death of coaches ignoring our youth and there not being a legitimate pathway for young players to improve and step up.

As I stated in Saudi Arabias case they will become more attractive over time especially as they will be involved in the coming super league further down the line.

Unless they do build prestige and sporting credibility; they generally won't get a sniff of prime talent.

What my argument boils down to is this.
Its money coupled with ambition in the modern era.

Yet I bet you'd struggle to define ambition in a way that doesn't revolve around spending money.

The best Players go where they can win the highest prizes and earn the highest wages. We agree
At spurs under this ownership we offer neither.
The harsh reality is that enic will never show the ambition that Woolwich just have.
As a spurs fan that should sicken you.
I know it does me.

"Never"?

So Spurs go out a few seasons ago riding the crest of a CL final (compared to an AFC title challenge bottle job) and pay top whack for their 3 top targets and that differs how?

Sure Rice brings a little more fan-fair due to his HG-hero status, but the notion that AFC are some free-spending ambition machine operating in a different stratosphere to Spurs is a myth that until the Rice signing had not the slightest leg to stand on; and even now remains contentious.

What "sickens" me? I put that in writing a number of pages back......

I think it's worded like that because of HG rules. If we keep him on then he'll eventually be club trained, but it doesn't give us the opportunity to loan him out before he turns 21. Despite not being a starter at Blackburn he could surpass Dier, Davies, Tanganga and Rodon in the pecking order. I still expect us to bring in two CBs, but if Ashley is 3rd or 4th choice he'll still get some cup games and be able to develop. He's a big talent for sure

With regards to Devine I still think the best for him would be a loan. Have him ready in a year when we hopefully have European football again
Players need to be at their clubs 3years before 21 to be CT…

He can only ever be HG (Phillips).

From the post you quoted. "No, self entitlement is the way in which it is expressed by some."

You don't sound entitled in what you've just said...... But others can certainly be said to fit the blokes definition.
The fact of the matter is that there are only a small handful of actual melters. From what I can see, people like yourself and LeParisien LeParisien who whine about the melters are much more numerous.

It's honestly become far more tiresome. The melters are much easier to ignore.

Sounds like a rave review

Sounds like he’s going to be pretty ruthless gutting the squad (if levy doesn’t fuck him over of course).

Some of it I had identified early on. I don't think it's any secret about some of the areas we needed to strengthen. The goalkeeper was one and central defence is another," he said.

"In terms of the other boys, we've got a big squad but my view is I wanted to bring them along and just work with them and get some clarity in my head and give clarity to them because I think you'll find that a lot of them will say 'to be honest it's not for me, the way we're playing and the way we're training', because like I say I do things differently.

"Every day we have together, every game like last night, it gives you clarity about certain things and there's no doubt that the squad will be whittled down and there will be some more changes between now and probably the end of the transfer window."

Tbh it's not to our previous managers who wanted to trim down the squad, we're all aware of the deadwood, getting them out is a different matter. Very likely we will see another round of mass loans.

Mate, I usually respect your Footi perceptions. Not this!

High Fee, high wages, no resale, no current form.

He might well improve us, but that is because our base is soooooooooooooooo low.
Agree with all that. I think we could do better, certainly for the wages (TCO) but he’s a half decent player and better than Dier

There's no element of whining to my post and it doesn't even mention "melting".

FWIW: I agree that "most" of the forum aren't entitled.

The melters are much easier to ignore.

That's highly debatable, but in all honesty; it's the liars that I resent the most.

Happy with the Phillips signing, but we need to get him out on loan if he isn't going to be playing.

We ruined Rodon's confidence and can't do the same with Phillips. Get him a lower PL (Luton, Sheff Utd) loan or higher Championship (Coventry, Boro) to develop him further.

Pretty much nailed it.

Although 'objectively capable ' seems to be setting the bar a little bit low for a club of our wealth and stature.

Top class would be a better description of our requirements.

That's fair. One top class and the other deemed to be very good..

If that doesn't happen then we already know where our Achilles heel will be and so does Kane.

And I think getting splid protection in front of any central defenders we might buy is also quite essential. Not sure we have that at present.

The striker is only if Kane goes and should Richarlison have another stinker of a season.
