I was thinking Bissouma has leadership potential, but not really sure

I'd say the club captain needs to be vocal on and off the pitch, and be respected by the squad as an authority figure. Bissouma seems to be one of our great fun personalities in the dressing room, which usually doesn't bode well with leadership when you need to put a rocket up your teammates.

The quicker you come to grips with the fact that ENIC is not a mega rich football fan with billions burning a hole in his pocket getting to live his dream of owning his boyhood club, the quicker you will start focusing on what is realistic.

Clubs are bought either for sportwashing, or as an investment. Given we're not owned by Saudis/Qataris/Emiratis/Russians, it is folly to expect owner investment. So put all your energy into insisting the football operations are run as a world class organization and you'll have a very valid point.
You are misunderstanding my expectations - I don’t expect billions to spent a la sportswashing, but I do expect a realistic one off but still material capital injection of c.0.5BN at this point. That would enable an immediate improvement in first team squad but also, spent wisely, increase the value of the squad and allow a future churn of player sales. Chelsea spent terribly badly last year but have still yielded what 65% back this summer and have a lot of promising youngsters remaining.

There is a middle ground here - you seem to think it’s either Abramovic sports washing or Glazer negative investment strategy. Free up some capital as a one off, either via owner loans, gift, or sell a minority stake via outside investment (with a view to offsetting this by value increases ahead of a future sale).

We have to do something and change the 23 year cycle - our revenue will drop by about 20% next season vs 22/23 due to fewer home games, no CL revenue, no CL tv etc. that’s a massive amount and if revenue flatlines at 23/24 without CL then the value of the club drops (their primary objective is clearly to maximise investment so this is a huge negative).

I foresee improvements in the football strategy but this is a medium term outcome and will take time, we need a boost now in parallel

First time we’ve seen this side of his personality come out though isn’t it. He’s probably over the moon to be rid of Conte and it’s coming out like this. I wouldn’t have him at the top of my list for captain but he isn’t too far off. We also don’t know how much stock Ange puts in the captaincy. He comes across as being a person who wants everyone to have that in them in his team.

"Sorry Ange couldn't get you Tapsoba or VDV, we didn't get CL, so we don't have enough money, you can use Ashley Phillips though he's great"

Why are you making up stuff?

I mean…I know you’d like that to be true just so you can continue with your agenda but grow up.

Again you are missing the point. Whether a loan (terrible idea, because it saddles the club with debt owed to the owners and then everyone is bitching that they are trying to make money off the club), or a gift (they will not make a gift - they're not the rich fan owning the club), it is not how an investment company operates.

And you also seem to be forgetting that ENIC did do a cash injection last year to the tune of 150 million. But before doing any more, it is important that the football operations are at least at a near world class level, else it will just be money pissed away.

So again, insist that we operate like a Brighton or Brentford, but this "the owners should pump money into the club" is a pipe dream and you'll be wasting your time waiting for it to happen.

Who: Hotspur 88:ledley:
When: 20th July
Where: SC
Tier Garbage

We are still interested in bringing both in (Tapsoba/VDV). In an ideal world, that's been the plan from the beginning!

Whether we can make it happen is a completely different matter. But we are certainly trying to do both deals. We should know this week whether that's actually possible

How I read it:
He’ll make an initial bid on Tapsoba that will leave enough to get VdV
If that is rejected then he’ll bid 40 on Tapsoba which will then exclude any bid on VdV.
If our maximum bid of 40 is rejected for Tapsoba then we’ll bid 30 in VdV.
This suggests that we have less than 70m — by how much I don’t know— for both these CBs.
Why would that information be released publically?

This may be so, but Dan the Man has form for leaving the squad weak in at least one position in past seasons. There's no denying this, some of us will be worried until the CBs are signed

There is certainly a bit of worry in the back of my mind but I'm still feeling relatively confident that we will sign at least one of our top targets. The hold up is definitely frustrating but if it means we get Tapsoba, I would like to think he will slot into the side quite nicely. He has been playing in quite a fluid system for BL.
