If we don't sign 2 top CBs this window is a failure, even if we get Mbappe for free.

We are not so much on a decline because we have shit players (aside from the defensive holes), but because of the shit system our previous managers played. I think Ange can get a tune of this group and finish top 6. We then build from there. My opinion, of course.

Old school defender but not great on the ball. Always liked what I’ve seen of him though but saw him get the biggest doing from Osimhen last season. He struggles with players running in behind him and into channels and for that reason no for me. VDV is the best suited for us and Tapsoba would be great too but only one of them seems possible.
Captain by name, but real captains were always Salah, Mane and VVD. They just tolerated him because they were successful as soon things got bad like last season, no one could stand the sight of him. That's why got rid of him.
Top players never respect teammates of inferior quality as captains.

If you're Romero, Bentancur, Madison or Bissouma, are you going to accept player of inferior stock as your captain? A player that is well below your level?
We have already seen how that donkey Maguire captaincy turned out for United, the likes of Bruno and Pogba were openly taking the piss out of him.
Anyone who has played football even at grass root level understands this, you never give captaincy to one of your worst players in the team as superior players will never respect and accept him as a captain.
The captain doesn't need to be among the team superstars, he does need to be someone who doesn't cause panics or point blame at others.
Fed up with these begging bowl continental clubs taking our detritus on loan for the season with faaack all intention of ever buying them. We should be telling them we want first pick of their youth system in the over the next 3 years

No-one's talking about Dier being captain but you, but to start assuming no-one likes or respects Dier, that's just your hatred talking.

The captain will always be the player who others respect the most due to their ability to lead - regardless of if they are the most superior player or not.
