I'm saying as a backup....Biss, Bentancur, Skipp and Sarr should be enough. Bentancur is very good in tight spaces, beating the press and advancing the ball so I thought he would be good as a 6 under Ange. Similar to Dembele under Poch?
Yeah I get that. But look at his entire career. At Juve, at Boca Jrs, for Uruguay.
Which season is the statical outlier ? History suggests he’s not a goal scorer. Hope I’m wrong but just don’t see it.
To me his best attributes would be used in the 6.

Take the ball off them and start the attack. His first/outlet pass would be great to start the attacks.

It should be. But then again, Hojbjerg is astronomically clear of Skipp as both a 6 and an 8 so we'd be weakening ourselves regardless if we sold without replacement.
Bentancur was woeful at Juventus as a 6 and we eliminate his supreme pressing by playing him as a 6. I just wouldn't want to see him there.
Id rather see Sarr there but I think he'd be better further up.

I would agree with your assessments of us, but it’s high time we started acting like this in the transfer market.
Massive footballing institutions simply do not behave as we do.
The moment really isn't now. Doing a rebuild with a new manager involves several steps. Initially the manager needs to assess the current squad, especially since the playing style is changing completely. This could take half a season to even a full season. Only then will it be obvious what areas need strengthening to take us to the next level.
There may already be some obvious areas, in our case our quality at CB, that can be strengthened right away. And there may be some obvious players that need to be moved out. But only after the assessment phase is complete does it make sense to start going after serious targets. Else we'd be taking a scattergun approach a la Chelsea and end up spending stupidly, which is something that everyone agrees we have been doing for way too long. There has to be a measured approach that follows a proper process to ensure that when the investment is made we get the biggest bang for the buck.
Neither are 6’s. Both Bentancur and Bissouma are classic box to box number 8’s.
Bentancur played as a 6 in a midfield 3 in his last couple of years at Juve and their fans couldn’t wait to get shot of him as a result.
Nowhere near defensively aware enough or press resistant enough to play it effectively.

He's assessing the squad right now, in training and in preseason games and has already said the squad will be trimmed down considerably. He's probably already got an idea of players he would like in. Then there is the Kane situation which has the potential to be really bad for him.
I must admit I'm puzzled.

I hope so but I can't say that with certainty, if we had a core of reliable players and stability manager wise, then I'll say yeah bad season, we'll make it back. Now it's different, so many changes, need to be made. There just seems to be a lack of direction at the top about where we are going.

I personally don't think he is as poor as some make out. He played in a high line system before he came to us and really, I don't think it is fair to judge anyone based off last season.
Dier, Sanchez, Tanganga - we have many years of experience with them to know they aren't what we want, or even need.
If Lenglet is 3rd choice CB for Ange then, whilst not ecstatic, id be ok with giving him a chance to prove himself. I personally feel like he would be last resort though.

Preseason alone is not enough to do a proper assessment. You need a run of real games. As for the Kane situation, going by the game against the Spammers, it didn't look to me like we were lacking for goals or creativity without him. I think a lot of people will be surprised how little Kane will be missed under Ange's playing style.
Could also make an argument that Kane would be better suited in the advanced 8 role with Richy or Sonny up top but Ange would have to have giant balls to try such a thing.
a lot of midfielders don’t add goals until early 20’s. It’s a skill that can be learned. I think his passing is a little loose to be the main number 6
Kane would not have the legs for the #8 role.
On the subject of Kane ... Ange's system requires a CF who will consistently run in behind and press hard to win the ball back. Not sure Kane is the best fit TBH. Yes, he is world class and will make any team better, but if we can get close to £100M for him we should sell to Bayern IMO and seriously upgrade our defence.
