Yeah, what does Ange know?

I'm saying as a backup....Biss, Bentancur, Skipp and Sarr should be enough. Bentancur is very good in tight spaces, beating the press and advancing the ball so I thought he would be good as a 6 under Ange. Similar to Dembele under Poch?Hojbjerg and Skipp are the only players in our squad capable of playing that 6 successfully behind Bissouma.
If we sell Hojbjerg, it's pointless getting Gallagher or Veiga in. Because they're both 8s. It'd also leave us ridiculously short because I don't think Skipp is cut out to start (good depth) and Bissouma is going AfCON in Jan.
I don't understand anyone who sees Bentancur as a 6.
Bentancur had 5 goals and 2 assists last season in 18 games, most probably would of near double figures if he had stayed fit and that was In a defensive team.

I would agree with your assessments of us, but it’s high time we started acting like this in the transfer market.Ffs.
Villa finishing above us for ONE season does not make us a step down / sideways step.
Stop pissing on our club. We are a massive footballing institition and it’s time you showed our club the respect it deserves.
The moment really isn't now. Doing a rebuild with a new manager involves several steps. Initially the manager needs to assess the current squad, especially since the playing style is changing completely. This could take half a season to even a full season. Only then will it be obvious what areas need strengthening to take us to the next level. The right moment is now, he has been entrusted to do a job and ENIC need to help him as much as possible before the season kicks off.
Neither are 6’s. Both Bentancur and Bissouma are classic box to box number 8’s.Bentancur and Biss are ideal 6s. Don’t think either have the offense punch we’re looking for in the 8s
Things were different back then, water carriers were natural captains.
Above them.We usually out perform Brighton too right? where do you think we will finish with largely the same set of players and no Kane?
He's assessing the squad right now, in training and in preseason games and has already said the squad will be trimmed down considerably. He's probably already got an idea of players he would like in. Then there is the Kane situation which has the potential to be really bad for him.The moment really isn't now. Doing a rebuild with a new manager involves several steps. There may already be some obvious areas, in our case our quality at CB, that can be strengthened right away. And there may be some obvious players that need to be moved out. But only after the assessment phase is complete does it make sense to start going after serious targets. Else we'd be taking a scattergun approach a la Chelsea and end up spending stupidly, which is something that everyone agrees we have been doing for way too long. There has to be a measured approach that follows a proper process to ensure that when the investment is made we get the biggest bang for the buck.
I hope so but I can't say that with certainty, if we had a core of reliable players and stability manager wise, then I'll say yeah bad season, we'll make it back. Now it's different, so many changes, need to be made. There just seems to be a lack of direction at the top about where we are going.
I bet you he doesn’t start 6 in our first PL game
Preseason alone is not enough to do a proper assessment. You need a run of real games. As for the Kane situation, going by the game against the Spammers, it didn't look to me like we were lacking for goals or creativity without him. I think a lot of people will be surprised how little Kane will be missed under Ange's playing style. He's assessing the squad right now, in training and in preseason games and has already said the squad will be trimmed down considerably. Wouldn't Bentancur also be a good 6 in this system?

Loads of options there and very flexible!
Front 3 look good too, now just go and get some CB's!
a lot of midfielders don’t add goals until early 20’s. It’s a skill that can be learned. I think his passing is a little loose to be the main number 6Yeah I get that. But look at his entire career. At Juve, at Boca Jrs, for Uruguay.
Which season is the statical outlier ? History suggests he’s not a goal scorer. Hope I’m wrong but just don’t see it.
To me his best attributes would be used in the 6.
Provide cover for CBs
Take the ball off them and start the attack. His first/outlet pass would be great to start the attacks.
Reads the game exceptionally well.
Kane would not have the legs for the #8 role.Could also make an argument that Kane would be better suited in the advanced 8 role with Richy or Sonny up top but Ange would have to have giant balls to try such a thing.
