It’s not the end of the world Kane leaving it might be a blessing. For years it’s been Kane + 10 others, now some of the others might get a bit more prestige. Anyway, Kane is not the fastest player and he might not be so good in Ange’s methods.

Is Udogie bad 1v1? Legit question for our Italian football specialists, also known as the Youtube Coinnoseurs.

I know Porro is about as hard to get past as some wet tissue paper, but Udogie strikes me as having the physical attributes to be better in those kind of situations.
I watched a fair bit of him last season.

He played as LB but also this weird auxiliary WB role where he wasn't always required to come back and do defensive work.

So many times I saw him as the highest player on the pitch for Udinese, whilst the other team were counter attacking. He has the attributes to get up and down but for some reason the manager seemed to be OK with him jogging it back.

1v1 he was OK. He's got acceleration which helps against fast wingers, he often gets his body in between the ball and man when a winger tries to kick it past him. But for me his lapses were primarily mental and/or positional.

Simply put his defensive style is more like Kyle Walker, reliant on athleticism to bail himself out of situations. Not very aware positionally, but also I think that's down to lack of experience.

I assume Postecoglou wants to use him in a flat 4, so having to track back will be important. Whoever plays in midfield will have to cover for him, I expect this to be Bissouma.

Problems will start appearing if you play Porro and Udogie at RB and LB. If this happens then you need 2 of PEH, Skipp and Bissouma to be playing to cover the gaps they will leave behind.

The other thing is who plays LW. If Perisic stays the he can help Udogie double up defensively. Gil will come back and help. Not so sure whether having Udogie and Son is opening us up too much. If I were an opponent, I'd be targeting that flank with those 2 defensively.

If anything Sarr would be the best choice, he's more mobile than all of them.

Whoever we buy won't be able to get near Kane's numbers. Nowhere near. Strikers like Kane with the sheer volume of goals he scores come along very rarely. Look how long it took for us to have a striker like him. Lineker was the last one who scored freely, almost guaranteeing 20 goals plus every season when fit.

If we can find someone who gives us 15-20 goals a season and the rest of the attack and midfield chip in with more goals we will be ok
100% correct., but it means 2 more strikers are needed.

This is nice for Pape Sarr

Ange on Pape Matar Sarr and if he's in his plans:

"Absolutely. What a player. He never stops smiling, what else do you want from a footballer? He’s outstanding and he’s always happy. I’ve seen plenty of outstanding players who are fairly miserable.

"He’s a great talent. That part really excited me at the moment that we have a clutch with Destiny, Pappy, Skippy.

"We’ve got a talented and very exciting group there. There’s some real growth there for us apart from establishing a team that can make an impact straight away."

whats the deal with Djed Spence? not rated or injuried?

Well you might still want to sub him off in games for fresh legs, he might still get injured.

We still have Perisic & Gil on the books.

My intentions are focused on the first XI and getting back into Europe this season..... Attracting better depth players should be easier if we achieve that.

Also if we're buying young, inexperienced players we risk starving them this season which is why I think Divine (and the likes of Scott if we were to buy him) would be better off on loan,
