From my understanding, M’Bappe has refused the Saudi move and has said that he’s going to Madrid on a free thereby going to a European rival and denying PSG a 200m transfer fee. That’s a Sol Campbell move on steroids.
If the relationship between the club and player disintegrates further, rather than sitting him, it would actually make sense to send him out on a loan (and away from their toxic fanbase into the bargain).
My only regret is that we couldn’t compete for that loan because we can’t offer the player anything and we’d never subsidize enough of the wages (compared to others).
Levy isn’t above getting in a player just for the marketing opportunity— that’s the sole reason we brought in Alex Morgan (who has more online followers than our club).
I wouldn’t be half-surprised if better placed clubs look to make the same loan move later in the window.
