Mate. I think I pretty clearly stated my position at the start. I go by what is reported

But thanks for making me repeat myself

So I wasn’t privy

And however much you’ll love to see the documentation you won’t

The 65m was figured bandied about at the time from reports

And there was plenty of reason to get into it …. If you rule out ‘getting into this one’ on the basis that we aren’t included in all the clubs internal businesses details then it rules out ‘getting into any’ discussion…, agreed ?

The bottom line is. Fuck me again! That he has on record stated he didn’t want to come

So unless there was such a bid that would turn Inter hostile to force him out the club then all the talk of bids are moot. Your 70 from your imagination My 65 from media reports

But what does stand is that this cannot be chalked off as a Daniel failure

And I think we can agree it’s been demonstrated in fairly irrefutable fashion

Now. I’m not DL great defender (no pun intended) So if he fails with tapsoba. Then he’ll be culpable in my opinion

But so far on that list only skrinikar is the one I’ll agree

Unless you know of reasons why we can surplant man city
70m what was Ali Gold said Inter wanted
Nobody anywhere reported we bid 65m. You invented that number from your imagination.

Player was quoted as saying there were talks.

The talks failed.

For whatever reason, add it to the other failures with reasons. In a few weeks, we can add Tapsoba to the pile.

It's a pattern of behaviour.

So far this is probably a 2 out of 10 window when you consider what needed to be done.

I can't help but feel there's such restraint because something is going on behind the scenes. Maybe Lewis knew he was going down. Maybe the club are bracing for something else.

Gotta be honest with you.
I hated Harry with a fucking passion. Probably more so than Gross, Graham or Mourinho.
A total fraud and a chancer.
Still haven’t forgiven him for losing to a relegated Pompey in the FA Cup semifinal with Bale and Modric while he fucking twerked for another job.

How was he ever a fraud? Did much better for us than Gross or mourinho Graham is debatable as he did win us a cup despite terrible football and mid table finishes

Are you just parrot repeating me now Richard. Because if your next line is ‘ I know you are you said you are ‘. Then I wouldn’t be totally shocked

And I think I mentioned earlier. This level of debate just isn’t what i pop on for

Have your bastoni. If you can’t wrap your loaf around any sensible reasoning then who I am to disabuse you of your ‘70m and he was ours’ conviction

Enjoy the forum. Theirs plenty that will entertain ya

I’m not repeating you.

We just don’t agree.

I didn’t even want to get into Bastoni or any individual examples.

We actually agreed when we were looking at the big picture.

I think that's the point of coaching and improving players.

He doesn't have to be elite. He has to fit the profile Ange needs for a left sided centre back.

Is Richarlison better than Harry Kane? No. Is he potentially better suited for how this manager wants to play football? Yes.
He's no defender though. We all know that. He isn't being asked to play right wing back in this system, so that's irrelevant.

Absolutely. But that still doesn't negate the negatives he brings defensively.

You can't pick and choose whos negatives you choose to ignore. Does van de Ven have negatives? Yep. But as mentioned numerous times, he has plenty of positives for the system he would be asked to play in.

Do Porro, Romero, Udogie all have negatives? Absolutely. But we like their positive alot more.

We need a centre back who is relatively quick and someone who is not scared of having the ball at their feet but also someone with the right personality of wanting to improve. Van de Ven happens to match those characteristics. It also helps his case that he's left footed.

We're going to be dominating possession in most games this season. If the opponents manage to get to the point where they're troubling our centre backs, something has gone wrong elsewhere.

Would be transform our defence? We won't know until he's there. But he'd certainly be better suited to what we have now.
I think that given the players around him specifically Porro and Udogie it would be a hell of a lot of burden to purchase Van de Ven and throw him in as our starting centre half.

Ultimately this CB purchase has to be great, he can't be decent with potential or another stopgap. He has to be transformative, he has to fix arguably the worst defense in the Premier League. If I seem harsh it's because our situation is harsh, our defense is horrific and it needs an amazing defender to come in and elevate it.

And there are way too many excuses and framings for Van de Ven in your posts. Rhetorically I don't want my centre half to 'have a good profile with some shortcomings'. I want to know he's going to get the bloody job done. If he was the guy, he'd be the guy, we wouldn't have to squint and rotate and frame and ameliorate to make him seem better.

And yet you like George Graham, a Gooner legend.

Hmm.

I was never an 'Arry lover BUT he turned us around in a really short time and had us playing some really good football. He also managed to get us into the CL, should've been twice if Bayern hadn't bottled it in 2012. Cunts.
I do think there was a massive amount of snobbery because of who he was. If a young hipster had got us from bottom of the table in October 2008 to 4th by May 2010 playing great football he'd have been hailed a genius.

Having said that i'd rather not hear his stories about Mooro and Hurstie on repeat but i loved his time with us as a whole.

I like Harry but I've always felt that a cannier coach would've had us genuinely competing for things when we had Bale, VDV and Modric as well as a handful of decent to good players around them. He knew how to keep a happy dressing room and we played fun football, but this was the point some more modern methods were coming to the surface and we missed out on that a bit when we had two potential world class footballers in the team.

Some of us — not you — can actually remember booing Graham when he played for Woolwich.

dont tell mom the babysitters dead GIF

Hmm or maybe we had a good eleven but needed more depth to make that genuine leap forward.

I wonder who decided to take the cheaper options instead?

:ange-hmm:

We had not dropped 6 points to Norwich and QPR.

Even if we hadn't drawn with Villa in the penultimate game of the season

We should have been in control of our own destiny that season, not relying on Bayern
