I like Harry but I've always felt that a cannier coach would've had us genuinely competing for things when we had Bale, VDV and Modric as well as a handful of decent to good players around them. He knew how to keep a happy dressing room and we played fun football, but this was the point some more modern methods were coming to the surface and we missed out on that a bit when we had two potential world class footballers in the team.
he would have if left backed him and got Suarez and or Hazard. Another huge missed opportunity from Levy, I thought we could win the league the season he signed Nelsen and Saha, we were close at Xmas

Was also king, Parker, Corluka IIRC, some really good players

Just read a report where Shrringham is bigging up Maguire for a Spurs transfer.

I wonder which club he is trying to help?
When I watch these old football players keeping up the legacy advantage for clubs like Man U and saying it’s better for everyone if he goes to utd and stays in the prem, I’m grateful that Levy is our chairman and refuses to sell them his best players.

Fuck those clubs

Gotta be honest with you.
I hated Harry with a fucking passion. Probably more so than Gross, Graham or Mourinho.
A total fraud and a chancer.
Still haven’t forgiven him for losing to a relegated Pompey in the FA Cup semifinal with Bale and Modric while he fucking twerked for another job.
He had some good qualities, and got the best out of a number of players, but at no point did I ever feel under him that we had the tactical edge over our rivals, or that our side was or would ever be more than the sum of it's parts.

The "just fackin' run araand a bit" instructions to Pav seems to sum his Management style up in a nutshell.

I do think there was a massive amount of snobbery because of who he was. If a young hipster had got us from bottom of the table in October 2008 to 4th by May 2010 playing great football he'd have been hailed a genius.

Having said that i'd rather not hear his stories about Mooro and Hurstie on repeat but i loved his time with us as a whole.
He was just what we needed at the time he was appointed.

Apparently Harry didn’t want Suarez.

Seems he wanted Hazard though - and I won't be doing a Dr Fixx and accusing him of lying just to suit the narrative..

We had not dropped 6 points to Norwich and QPR.

Even if we hadn't drawn with Villa in the penultimate game of the season

We should have been in control of our own destiny that season, not relying on Bayern

We still finished 4th, Bayern beat the Chavs on their own turf and none of those dropped points would've mattered.

The England job did disrupt things, sickening really that the FA allowed all the talk to be about Harry whilst they had already offered it to Woy (THE worst England manager we've had in my lifetime). Strange how they didn't wish to disrupt West fucking Brom's season but were fine with derailing ours.

Cunts.

I think that given the players around him specifically Porro and Udogie it would be a hell of a lot of burden to purchase Van de Ven and throw him in as our starting centre half.

I think that's where you and I differ. Ange preaches nothing but bravery. That'd be the definition of being brave. Two flying wing backs, Romero and a young brave centre back is the definition of carnage Ange Ball.

Though I think Emerson will be taking Porros spot sooner rather than later personally.

Ultimately this CB purchase has to be great, he can't be decent with potential or another stopgap. He has to be transformative, he has to fix arguably the worst defense in the Premier League. If I seem harsh it's because our situation is harsh, our defense is horrific and it needs an amazing defender to come in and elevate it.

Again, I think that's where me and you differ in our opinions.

Again, I think for the majority of our games this season we're going to be dominating the ball. We're not going to be inviting teams onto us and giving our defenders all game to try and be flawless.

You could have put John Stones or Akanji (probably a better example) in our back line last season and we'd still have conceded lots of goals. You put them in a team that plays on the front foot, dominates the play and limits the opponents chances, their error window diminishes.

Yet Stones and Akanji both fit the profile of what City need. And they succeed there because of it. And even then, Akanji isn't anywhere near the greatest defender.

And there are way too many excuses and framings for Van de Ven in your posts. Rhetorically I don't want my centre half to 'have a good profile with some shortcomings'. I want to know he's going to get the bloody job done. If he was the guy, he'd be the guy, we wouldn't have to squint and rotate and frame and ameliorate to make him seem better.

That's fine. But you're not picking the team. Ange will be. So he'll need the players that fit HIS team. The players that hit the right notes for what his centre backs need to play.

Mate, we got 16 points from the last 39 available that season - Harry took his eye off the ball, I blame him.
