Hmm. Even if we offered 100M for Rice, he wouldn't join, so that point is moot.

That said, a good team is greater than the sum of its parts. Look at Brighton last year. That's called management, not the amassing of a group of individuals
My point is they needed him, wanted him and they paid it. We need and want Tapsoba, we won’t pay it

I don't want to defend Levy because this mess is all of his own making, but no responsible chairman is going to add significant new contracts to our current wage bill while there are so many unwanted players on big salaries.

Reguilon, Ndombele, Gil, Rodon, Perisic, Lloris, Sanchez, Tanganga, Sessegnon, Spence, we are probably paying them more than £1m a week altogether. Until those salaries are officially off our books we don't have much room to add new players.
Maybe he sets some realistic valuations then and gets them off his books asap? I agree btw.

He’s accountable for moving them tho

We have one of the lowest wage to income ratios in the league.

They are a long way from it being irresponsible,

We took 31 players on our preseason tour and that was with about 5 first teamers left at home injured. We absolutely do have to sell before we buy, that is the sad consequence of our abysmal transfer business in the last 5 years. Even Chelsea, with all their money, had to flog countless players before they could start buying this summer.

Funnily enough, we are shitter at selling players than buying them. It’s just pathetic.

It will also be very difficult to get rid of those players so far away from the deadline, any interested clubs will wait until the deadline when they know we are desperate. All the years of bad transfers are killing us now.

WTF have Hugo and his agent been up during this tour?

I stand corrected.

That's steep compared to a cinema ticket but still not 80 quid

Prices have been out of whack with similar weekly entertainment since before the EPL kicked in.....

As a teen, my Spurs ticket went from £7 to £22 between 91/92 & 92/93.... Priced out 'overnight' thanks to Sky/EPL...... Couldn't afford to go back regularly until I had a good job in the late 90s.

It’s self interest.
He has a player with one year left on his contract that he wants to get as much as he can for.
I take your point but a player who is banned until February next year, so a year isn't quite right. Won't be a lot of takers given the betting scandal (once an addict...) - even though I like Toney - I think he's class and has everything but I don't see Franck being so clever.

Number picked out of an arse.

I mean, for a family with 2 kids and a parent at the game, that's 15o ish for 2 hours of entertainment, plus food and drinks and transport.

Doesn't make sense.

It's brutal... I'm sure.

Can't remember which thread now but a few peeps were reflecting on the fact that a family trip to the cinema + snacks costs circa £100 these days.

Still; a posh ticket for Taylor Swift is 3 grand... So there's always options.
