Devine leaving would mean :

Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison, Skipp, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Lo Celso and Ndombele for 3 positions.

Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison, Bentancur and Skipp are guaranteed to stay. So can definitely see one of the other three leaving.

Championship season starts in 3 days so hopefully the youth loans get sorted quickly. The youth loans were all sorted before the end of July last season so they had a bit of time to settle in but none sorted out so far this year

That quote from Poch never made sense. Are we to be stupid in the market to achieve success?

We're currently being pretty stupid where our CB recruitment is concerned...

We're going to win everything now!!!
It made absolute sense when he said it, and it still rings so true today.

He’s saying essentially that we cannot continue to just look for a “good deal”, punts and opportunistic buys and expect to be competitive at the top end and win trophies.
Sometimes we have to be brave in the market and go for our top targets even if it means paying a little more.

Seems like that's just a pressure tactic to speed up Bayern so that we then have time to do our business.

Why would Kane give a shit whether he goes mid August or on the 31st.

Bollocks.

Maybe because Kane is a true professional.

Despite all the shit Kane does love the club and his teammates. Realizes there’s a circus right now, but once the season starts wants to focus to be on the field.

It’s not that difficult to see Kane’s class shining through all the Spurs shit.

It's both unreasonable and a silly question.

Am i going to criticise his performance if he drops a clanger and has a poor performance = yes

Am i going to criticise if he performs poorly for a sustained period = yes

asking people on a football forum if they're gonna "shit on" a player if he doesn't play well? does critcising constitute as shitting on?

dumb question that's made even worse by the internet gangsterism added to it.

It’s a reasonable and fair question, minus the ‘big man’ bit.

But thanks for confirming you’ll be looking for any excuse to criticise our new GK just because we didn’t sign Raya.

Cheers for clarifying that.

Actual supporters (key word - support) should be looking at encouraging and getting behind our players, not looking for any excuse to have a pop.

But there you go!

Is it though? If he was our first choice target in such a pivotal position, 40 million is not that excessive in todays market.

If, for example, we were approaching the transfer from Woolwich’s position, whereby they want him as competition for their current number 1, then absolutely 40 million is excessive and I would expect us to walk away in such circumstance.

Also, the Onana point is moot. Whilst I believe we should have been in the market for a goalkeeper of his quality, we weren’t, so it’s a pointless argument.

With regard to the Porro situation, Porro would have been an outstanding signing if we had got him in the Summer instead of Spence for example. He’s a top class wing back talent who could have thrived in a fully functioning Conte system.
Alas, we signed him in a panic when everything had already gone to shit.
leave him mate he has a small time mentality.

Most people would think like you. Would realise we desperately need a new goalkeeper as our current one was not up to scratch and was costing us points and target the best possible replacement that could cement that position for years and years.

Similar to what Klopp did who decided it was correct to spend 60 plus million on Allison (this btw was a liverpool team that didn't have much money to spend and had a relatively low net spend as they were spending what they brought in) and what Guardiola did with Ederson.

If Vicario was our first choice then i wouldn't care one bit how much he's worth. If we genuinley wanted him as our first choice i would be all for it. Instead, we do as we nearly always do and identify our first choice and back away because we don't want to spend what his club want and thus we settle.

haha

"any excuse" ...as in a mistake resulting in us losing. You're talking as if i'm criticising him because of his hair style of something.

Also, where in that post did you get that i was due to us not getting Raya anyway? just making it up as you go along. Raya wasn't even mentioned in the post you've quoted so try again.

This gives the impression that a player who may soon leave cares more about the club than Levy?

Yes and it's very smart from Harry. He is in the position of power and he won't be fucked around by Levy like he was two years ago.

I very much doubt Levy will allow Harry to still be here without signing a new deal once the window is shut. Too much of a risk that Harry leaves for free next summer.

I don’t need to ‘try again’. I read your other posts.

It’s very simple.

We signed Vicario (highly rated btw).

I will support / encourage / get behind him as long as he’s a spurs player.

I will not look to slag him off just because of Levy.

You can be anti-Levy (understandably) and support our new signings (and current players for that matter).

End of discussion.

Is it though? If he was our first choice target in such a pivotal position, 40 million is not that excessive in todays market.

40m for a goalkeeper with one year left on their deal is most definitely excessive in today's market.

You know this by the fact that no goalkeeper who's gone for similar or more has been in the last year of their contract at the time of sale and the fact no one is willing to purchase him at said price.

If, for example, we were approaching the transfer from Woolwich’s position, whereby they want him as competition for their current number 1, then absolutely 40 million is excessive and I would expect us to walk away in such circumstance.

Woolwich will not be signing him for 40m. I imagine if they get him, it'll be at the end of the window when Brentford realise no one is paying what they want for him and they don't want to lose him on a free.

We were never going to do that and if we did. We'd be getting abused by doing so. In this rare instance, we, like a well run club would have done, moved on to a goalkeeper who statistically, is no worse.

Also, the Onana point is moot. Whilst I believe we should have been in the market for a goalkeeper of his quality, we weren’t, so it’s a pointless argument.

Then you've read the conversation wrong. The point was, if we didn't sign Onana and instead signed the "budget" Raya instead, we'd be having the same conversation today.

These conversations aren't about the players ability. It's a point scoring conversation from a section of the fanbase that want to moan about something.

With regard to the Porro situation, Porro would have been an outstanding signing if we had got him in the Summer instead of Spence for example. He’s a top class wing back talent who could have thrived in a fully functioning Conte system.
Alas, we signed him in a panic when everything had already gone to shit.

You can't prove that at all any more than I can prove that we'd likely have conceded even more goals with Porro in from the summer.

Porro wasnt going to magically be able to defend if he had signed in the summer. He'd still have displayed the same problems he's shown since we signed him.

Well done Harry, fuck Levy and his delaying till the last week of the window bollox

Over to you Danny boy

This is gonna get messy

You mean over to Bayern…

Levy still living his dream world of pay the £100 mill price or he stays. Also probably believes he can convince Kane to sign a new deal.

Bayern are banking on Kane forcing a move out. Once he makes free agency, they know the odds of landing him will be much lower.

This fucking club man..

12 days to go. Need to shift 12.

Sort Kane situation.

Levy clearly has too much work on his hands with Munn still tied up and no DOF or alike.

I can't see anyone coming in for a while until players are moved on.

Expecting a crazy end to transfer window.
This and the whole Lewis situation. I know he officially "ceased to be a person with significant control" at the end of last year (how convenient) but the US government / SEC are not to be fucked with.

They will relentlessly hunt down and freeze any assets they consider to be in play even before a conviction is made. And that's if you are a US national. Non-nationals are treated much worse.

I used to work with US banks on Anti Money Laundering topics and the US Banks aren't scared of anyone. Except these guys.

It's a genuine worry for me.

Didn't Daniel Levy some months ago talk about some reconstruction within the framework of the club and that he was stepping back from football related matters?

Who's driving the Kane negotiations and overseeing potential first team additions?
Levy, there is nobody else there to do it. No DoF and no Scott Munn. Paratici is still allowed to advise which means he’s doing his original job but he’s working from home until his full ban is up.
