Of course it does. The forwards we're currently linked to are Gift Orban and Brennan Johnson, neither will cost anywhere near the 90m we'd get for Kane, and I doubt we're actually going for Johnson. Where else will the money go? Why have we been negotiating with them for a month now if we have the money to buy either VDV or Tapsoba?

The only way to get Kane to sign a new contract is if Levy shows some ambition in this window and sign 2 CBs. Something that makes Kane believe in the project.
Right now if I was Kane I would go to German class and press for a sale.

Absolutely.

That is still a long shot because without Kane money, top-class CBs look like they aren't happening and there would still be the Kane circus hanging over the squad the longer he hasn't signed.

Was Bentancur? Not clear.
Was Kulusevski? Not clear, but linked since Nov so not just a convenient trolly grab.
Was Romero? YES
Was Porro? YES
Was Perisic? YES
Was Maddison? YES
 
Kulusevski wasn't first choice, we got gazumped for Diaz by Liverpool. With Bentancur I think he probably was, it was between him and Amrabat I think.

Another start of the season overshadowed by a loud and inconclusive transfer saga.. sigh.

Can I ask, is it bizarre to anyone else that it’s been a full month since we did ANY business whatsoever, ins outs even sorting a bloody loan?

Is it too much to ask to get something done in a full month at a professional club? Not even one sale?

But it's Levy.

Kane has been world-class for 5-6 years now and Levy has left holes in the starting 11 and squad every summer of that.

He's not going to just change now.

I still wouldn't bet against us getting a couple of CBs regardless of Kane. .....What the hold up is tho'? ........Fuck knows.
