It's pointing out the difference in attitudes, same player different clubs.

They player goes to Spurs and everyone takes the piss asking who he is?

He goes to Brighton and everyone lauds them for unearthing these talents constantly.

Might even be a dig at Spurs fans, who want us to do what Brighton do but also complain whenever we sign a relative unknown.

Took me a little while to see what it was getting at too, it's not very well presented tbf.
But we DON'T unearth talents constantly, instead they just go out on loan for years and years until their contract nearly runs out.

I think some people want us to purchase well known classy players like big clubs do, rather than act like Brighton. I'm not saying it bothers me but it seems to bother some people.
I think people like the idea of signing these players for a few million that look great and are valued at close to £100m after one season, but I don't think they are also happy to accept the risk that goes along with that, they see one dud and immediately want to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

There's also a certain degree of churn required, that I don't think many of our fans are comfortable with (for the association of selling stars with not being a "big" club...). You can only keep unearthing these gems if you are consistently selling first team players and making room for them.

The centre-back is not sure about going there and prioritises a move to Tottenham, with whom he has already reached a pre-agreement for three seasons. Barça want a fee of 15 million euros, which the Arabian club is willing to pay, but the Spurs aren't.
Well I can't hate on his preference, only retired players and players with no ambition go to Saudi.

I mean, I know we don't think he's all that, but this is actually quite flattering really.

Guy is willing to turn down obscene money because he wants to come here. Honestly, if we do sign him, providing he's not our BIG signing in that position, I'll give him some goodwill and a clean slate.

too much Lenglet smoke, i think he maybe agreed something with him but as 5th choice option. he probably unaware about being 5th pick though

Provided Son or Richarlison don't pick up injuries like they both did last season.

:sonmask::richclosed:
If they both do at the same time, then yeah. But we can't be 3-4 deep in each position just in case something like this happens. No team is. And with 1 game a week, it won't be much of a burden for one of the two to have to play every game until the other recovers.

I think the problem is not that we are getting players that cost a few million.

It just seems that these sorts of purchases are more opportunistic buys rather than scouts going out and making informed choices resulting in targeted purchases for a specific reason that x, y and have the potential to be great for us.

If Kane goes we'll sign a striker before the end of the window that actually comes immediately, whether it's this one or another one.
We won't and we shouldn't. The system Ange has us playing doesn't make this imperative. Eventually we should have one more body up front, but that may be a wing forward and not necessarily a striker. As I mentioned in my previous post, one game a week doesn't make it imperative that we bring in a Kane replacement. Sonny and Richie should do just fine. And hopefully this kid develops nicely and slots in the season after this one. He seems to have most of the attributes that Ange is looking for in a striker: work rate, finishing, pressing, etc.

Not gonna argue this again. Son is a LW, no reason to make 2 positions weaker to cover 1 loss, injuries happen, it was dumb to have 1 CF when that CF was Kane its willfully ignorant to try it when that CF is Richarlison. Repeat ad nauseum.
