With several reports in Argentina claiming Tottenham Hotspur are about to sign Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central, there’s no doubt the clubs are close to an agreement.

However, as TyC Sports now features an update on the chase, they reveal that there’s still a major issue stopping the transfer.

The outlet starts by confirming that Tottenham and Rosario Central are ‘about to close’ the deal, as the player has ‘everything agreed’ for the move.
The problem is that the Argentine club don’t want to lose the player in the summer, and now look for a way to keep him at least until December.

What plays in their favour is that the player is still working to get his European passport, and that should only get done by the end of the year.

Rosario Central are also still discussing with Tottenham some other details, such as the percentage of a next transfer.

The calendar difference between South America in Europe is often an issue discussed by clubs, so this is not the first time a setback like this happens.

Usually, money has the last say about it, and Spurs are expected to spend over €15m on the signing.

It's a strange move all round if they see him as a first-team player this season.

If he is the 2nd option as a striker, he can't go on loan.

Coming from Argentina, you wonder if Veliz spends at least a full season on loan?

In that case, they surely sign another forward?
Maybe it's just me then but I don't see Levy purchasing two centre forwards, especially if he's going to pay a big sum for Tapsoba, and is due to lose about £40m on Ndombele.

I hope to be proved wrong and we do buy another CF.

Not gonna argue this again. Son is a LW, no reason to make 2 positions weaker to cover 1 loss, injuries happen, it was dumb to have 1 CF when then CF was Kane its willfully ignorant to try it when that CF is Richarlison. Repeat ad nauseum.
Playing LW in Ange's system is not how Son would be best utilized. It's how Perisic would be best utilized. Son needs to play on the shoulder of the defense in a more central position, rather than hugging the touchline. So we will not be making 2 positions weaker by any stretch. Between Solomon, Kulu, and Perisic we can cover the RW and LW with one game a week leaving Sonny and Richie to play more centrally.

More negotiations for VdV today

I’m actually feeling sick. £50m in total for this guy is horrendous. Way way way way too much.

Good thing we won't be spending £50m then. €45m incl add ons will be about £38m pounds for him, which could end up a good price if he keeps improving. Very promising player, with unique physical attributes that make the new playing style somewhat feasible. I do worry about us on opposition corner kicks.

"Spend up to show Harry we mean business!!"

Also

"We're only spending because we're selling Kane"
It’s not screaming “great business” to me. Sell one of the worlds best strikers for £85 million and blow half of it on a young defender who will have the weight of the world on his shoulders and will even have to learn how to head the ball properly by all accounts.
Unless of course, Kane is staying…

But if one of them does get injured we won't have a CF substitute on the bench. I'd rather we kept Alejo Veliz, give him game time from the bench, Son will most likely be playing on the left, and we don't know yet what's happening with Perisic.
Who would City have on the bench, if Haaland gets injured and Alvarez starts? No team is 3 deep at CF. If one gets injured, my guess is Scarlett would be on the bench and likely never used, or subbed in if we're 3 goals up at 75-80 mins.
