Good thing we won't be spending £50m then. €45m incl add ons will be about £38m pounds for him, which could end up a good price if he keeps improving. Very promising player, with unique physical attributes that make the new playing style somewhat feasible. I do worry about us on opposition corner kicks.

Yeah, it's about going rate for what VdV is and where he is in his develoopment.

If he went to RB and it went well, 2 years later he's 80m+

It's 40-50m Euros with add ons included.

That's what 35-40m Pounds?

Not excessive.

Still need another CB though
Sorry I meant €50m

That’s still a pretty penny of £43m.

You know what that is? A fuckton more than he’s worth. About £20m more at least.

But we DON'T unearth talents constantly, instead they just go out on loan for years and years until their contract nearly runs out.
This is it. I would love it if we could keep unearthing quality players that drag us up and sell for a profit and keep doing this.
But we have rarely done it. 22 years of ENIC, and all I can think of is Bale, Walker, Berbatov, Modric and Carrick. Exclude any youth products in there as they weren't scouted and brought in.

I don't ever trust that the player I haven't heard of coming in, at the (lesser) expense of the ones I have, will be a success. There have been so many failures. And worse still, is we still fuck it up when we spend more.

Who would City have on the bench, if Haaland gets injured and Alvarez starts? No team is 3 deep at CF. If one gets injured, my guess is Scarlett would be on the bench and likely never used, or subbed in if we're 3 goals up at 75-80 mins.
I'm not familiar with City's sqaud but I assume they'd have a lesser player in the ranks to sit on the bench if need be.

It was still the more logical deal to do than Rodon? Even from Levy’s MO? Since when would anyone’s comments trouble Daniel? The club really exploited the vast Welsh market with Joe Rodon. I imagine outside of his family and friends, the club shop probably sold under a thousand shirts and less tickets to games to watch him play (when he’s played)
Commercially KMJ was always the better option than Joe Rodon. At the time, Skriniar would have been a starter rather than a punt.
The club has always done deals like Rodon, and tolerance for British young championship player with potential has always been there. It's a strategy that has served us well in the main, it just didn't work out this time.

Let's not play dumb here - we both know that *in general*, the fans would receive a player from Swansea City, who had been getting games for Wales for a year, better than a player still in China. This has always been a factor in what the club does. There's a reason why Maddison was wrapped up very, very quickly this window,

I liked Kim more (always thought he looked a good player whenever i watched Sonny for Korea), but I get the logic behind the Rodon signing. Should Skriniar have been brought in, as well as one of Sanchez or Alderweireld being moved on? In hindsight probably, and Mourinho would've been better off for it.

It’s not screaming “great business” to me. Sell one of the worlds best strikers for £85 million and blow half of it on a young defender who will have the weight of the world on his shoulders and will even have to learn how to head the ball properly by all accounts.
Unless of course, Kane is staying…
I don’t understand your point.

We need quality CBs and they’re expensive. You don’t want to blow the bulk of the ‘Kane money’ on a high potential QB and you don’t want to take a cheap punt.
That doesn’t leave much given that Maguire is going to cost nearly £40m.
How do you want to spend the £80m?

I disagree totally. What we are doing now in this window from what I can tell (& what we did with Rodon) is fish where the big boys don’t venture until the smaller clubs have taken the “punt”.
If Son was bending the clubs ear (if) then the club should have taken note and gone the extra yard. Rodon was the alternative punt and it’s not turned out well for the lad’s career or the club. At least with KMJ there would have been even more feverish support coming our way - which means money- which Daniel clearly likes very much.
It was a complete fuck up. As was selling Dembele for peanuts in the January window when we could have wrapped him in cotton wool. A fresh Dembele in the CL final makes the difference. We didn’t even replace him in that window!
Different examples of where money grabbing and penny pinching have hurt the club.

1. When he was initially linked he was roundly ridiculed as being a merch-signing cheapo punt...... Unspurprisingly; by at least one hypocrite that is now liking all your posts on the subject.

2. Dembele barely kicked a ball for 6 months after leaving.

These are 2 very gratuitous complaints.

Ndombele !

Sadly its a short list with probably Romeros and Bissouma the most recent star attractions. But go back in time and Modric (£20m) probably the real star.

I'm hopeful Maddison will be added to that short list ...... whilst hopeful we can sell some of those others who are on that list such as Ndombele!
Bissouma was 25M, I guess Bentacur was similar - Romero is still TBC IMO

Playing LW in Ange's system is not how Son would be best utilized. It's how Perisic would be best utilized. Son needs to play on the shoulder of the defense in a more central position, rather than hugging the touchline. So we will not be making 2 positions weaker by any stretch. Between Solomon, Kulu, and Perisic we can cover the RW and LW with one game a week leaving Sonny and Richie to play more centrally.
Perisic is fucking rinsed. You're weakening 2 spots to fill 1 gap.

Anyway, you're fucking wrong and I'm not going to be drug into it again. See previous post and repeat until you're tired.
