That source looks like utter bullshit but if Hojbjerg does go Amrabat would be a very solid replacement.

I maintain that what we’ve lacked these past few years is a true Wanyama Kante Fabinho Sandro destroyer type, someone who is built to fill in gaps and who excels at tackling. PEH is not really a pure DM and that has cost us.

Amrabat is that. Maybe a bit under the passing requirements in an Ange system but that’s the profile I’d like to see us address, rather than buying more 6/8 hybrids.
Even without PEH I'm not overly bothered about our midfield, we've got verstile players, the likes of Bentancur and Bissouma. I just don't want us to keep dithering over defensive options even if we do end up paying over the odds for both VDV and Tapsoba.

When I've seen Amrabat his passing and carrying were his positives he wasn't a destroyer. He started attacks from deep

if he's our top target and and we are a top 6 prem club, 60m is about going rate.

Mate that's nonsensical.

1. That's not what I asked.
2. Would he be worth less if we aren't a top 6 club?

(The question wasn't "how much do you think a top 6 team should be budgeting for a CB purchase".)

At least with VDV people are prepared to cast an opinion on the player himself ("Cracking prospect; not quite the finished article" etc. "He's worth the punt")...... With Tapsoba it's "we need a top CB" but no-one's going as fair as saying they think he is a top CB.......

Strangely enough, I'm primarily concerned about how good the player is; not this politician-style dance you result to whenever the question of Tapsoba's ability arises.

Not confident in your knowledge of the player? There's no crime in that, you know.... This is football chatter; not a professional interrogation.

He's nowhere as good as Tapsoba. He's an average CB, and would probably not start for Palace as things stand.

I mean, I have never seen him play so if that's your opinion then fair enough but you also base your opinions on HLs and Reddit posts for players you've never watched.

How many games of Taps or Schuurs have you watched?

Would Tosin start for Palace if they kept Anderson and Guehi?

btw, the CP Fan post was suggesting that Guehi and Anderson both have the likelihood of leaving.

Top 6 clubs can expect to pay 60m for the quality of player that they expect to lead their defense.

What's the deadline for prem reg for opening game , is it the Thursday before?

Alas I think we'll open at Brentford with sunday's starting lineup
That’s fine though, even if we did somehow sign VdV or Tapsoba next week, I don’t know I feel throwing a guy with less than a week of training into a key defensive position.

You can get away with a winger or forward getting thrown straight in but not sure about a CB, especially given Ange’s system where there’s so much responsibility on the CBs to hold the line and play in the buildup

Man UTD want Amrabat for 50m apparently.

Doubt we are paying 50m for a bench player that sits behind Bissouma in the pecking order.

I like Amrabat though.Agree with you there.

Looking at Maddison and Lo Celso's injury record, can't help thinking it will be a more creative 8/10 type that comes in if we replace Hojberg. Maybe a younger one.
